Notes

Contains this write-up on The Church:

Another Australian act with significantly greater artistic longevity was The Church. Combining post-punk sensibilities with '60s pop textures at a time when other bands from Los Angeles to Liverpool were just beginning to make the same connection, The Church forged a powerful sound out of jangling guitars and Steve Kilbey's murmured vocals. Powered by a great fuzzy riff from Marty Willson-Piper's 12-string, "The Unguarded Moment" was the band's debut single and the obvious centerpiece of their 1981 album Of Skins And Heart. Five more albums followed before the band finally made its American breakthrough with "Under The Milky Way" in 1988.
