On Saturday, July 19th the phone lines were open to discuss the status of the United States' economy....foreclosures, failing banks, price of gas, food, etc. Marilyn agreed that while many are suffering financially, there is still a significant number of Americans who are doing quite well and feeling no financial pain. The big question...where are you on the food chain?

In the 2nd hour, another Marilyn stopped by the Cafe Society to share information about her church's Community Day culminating on Sunday, July 20th @ 12Noon with food for your mind, body, and soul; fellowship; and guest speaker, Dr. Jo Anne Long of Chicago. The church??? All Nations COGIC in Joliet, IL. Entertainment news rounded out the rest of the hour. Shouts out to all the Marilyns that I've met in past year!!!

Marilyn had in-studio guests on the Saturday, July 12th show. Ellen Miller and friends stopped by to talk on the topic of Adoption: Pros and Cons and to share her intriguing story of the search for her birth parents. Ellen's story has been documented in a book entitled "The Story of Enid". She is currently searching for a publisher and filmmakers. Contact her at esmiller7@yahoo.com. Also, chiming in on the topic of adoption was Barbara Gonyo, former President of Truth Seekers, the organization that helped adoptees search for their birth parents. She also authored the book, "I'm His Mother, But He's Not My Son" which sheds light on the concept of "genetic sexual attraction".

Phone lines were opened during the 2nd hour of the show and the July contestant for the Open Mike Singing contest was chosen. Congratulations to Ken Plese!!! The next contest will be the 2nd Saturday in August.

Saturday, July 5th, there was more talk on the topic of "Happiness". Recent survey determined that the U.S. ranked 16th out 52 countries in terms of happiest. Optimistic people are the most happiest and live longer! Altruism certainly helps! Be sure to join Marilyn next Saturday, July 12th at Brown Chapel AME Church in Joliet for the re-launch of Positive Parents Monthly Brunch.
