Chris Bradford

Chris Bradford is a singer and songwriter of remarkable talents. His career is long and glittering and the songs, diverse though they are, are all grounded in good time rock and roll with an insistence on strong melody.

Chris's currently holed up in one of the beautiful Shires of England pursuing domestic bliss but as always, musical projects are not far from his mind. Old songwriting partner, Ray McRiner from the Bardot days has recently been in touch and who knows what might happen from that. Andy Scott lives not far away and they continue their long and productive friendship.

Chris has just published four songs on the MP3.com website. The new project is called Two Blue Lizards and the material has a driving power pop feel to it along with the trademark vocals and excellent melodies.

The music is described on MP3.COM as 'Jim Morrison meets Robert Palmer after spending a month on the road with Tom Petty'. Four songs are available for download at the Two Blue Lizards homepage: Give Me a Son, When The Lights Go Down, Naomi, Wondertime.

History ...

Andy Scott, guitarist and writer of The Sweet went on to have a successful solo career after Glam Rock. Some of Andys best stuff came from his hitchin' up with our Chris. Krugerands, Invisible, Let Her Dance etc etc

The Bloody Rajahs were really out there! They recorded some good demos but never cut a record. A big pity - the 'Rajahs were real fun - maybe RCA felt a little shy about the name (and the lyrical content). After all 'Bombay boys would do anything for a pound' might offend the righteous. Strangely the band did make a video though. It contained a bright green guitar.

The Heroes played good old fashioned Rock and Roll '... a woman would be better, but this could be okay!' The Heroes lineup saw Chris reunited with guitarist Mark Hankins from Randy forming a goodtime rock and roll five piece and recording an album of ten songs. 'Border Raiders' slips down nicely, a heady concoction of pop and rock ballads and broadly smiling boogie.

Bardot encapsulated the early 70s semi tradition of acoustic harmonic euphoria. Provided by Chris, Ray McRiner and Laurie Andrew, all outstanding vocalists and songwriters coming together for one single diamond of an Album. 'Rocking in a Rhythm' is collection of ten exquisitely melodious songs, three from each of the boys and one collaboration, Witchfire, their smash hit single (in Singapore I think). Pip Williams presence is heard on the album by way of some splendid orchestral arrangements and a nicely balanced yet sumptuous overall feel. Treasure this music.

Randy were a country rock outfit that Chris parted with just before they recorded their debut album. They were an accomplished road band but good though they were, their only single, 'Crazy Love', Chris's only song on the album, failed to gain the attention and radio play it deserved.

Some of Chris's most exquisite offerings came from his songwriting collaboration with Kit Hain, the very classy lady of Marshall Hain fame. School For Spies is one of my favourite songs from her album of the same name. They also co-wrote the haunting ballad 'Bells of Old Paris'.

Chris has over the years written songs for many diverse artists such as Kiki Dee, Lene Lovich and Progressive Rock giant, Greg Lake.
