Donations

We are always ready to accept new or gently used books from the community and gladly will fill out a receipt slip for tax purposes upon request.

Donations may be dropped off during Webster Library branch hours at the main desk (they issue receipts also). They can be brought downstairs to us in the basement bookshop during the hours the bookshop is open. The public can also request a curb-side drop off during our operating hours.

Please make sure the boxes that your donation is packed in are not larger than the standard moving box. (Roughly 16" by 13" by 10"). Plastic bags (not brown paper ones) are acceptable as a container as long as they are double-wrapped.

  • Magazines, periodicals, encyclopedias, textbooks, condense books, cassettes or vinyl records.
  • Books with - underlining or high-lighting in them, broken bindings or torn or yellowed pages, or odor (i.e., from tobacco smoke or storage lockers, etc).

  • Almanacs, travel guides, restaurant guides or computer guides published within the past two years ago.
  • Hardcover books without their dust jackets (especially fiction books) if you notify us before you donate.

Your books should look like the books on our shelves.

  • Pick-ups
  • We pick-up donations by appointment depending on where they are located. The books should be ready to be picked up by 9am. We must be able to use the building dolly or luggage cart. We do not pick-up donations from buildings without elevators unless the donation is left on the first floor.
    • To arrange for a pick-up you must call the bookstore during operating hours or email your request (with a contact #).
    • If requested, your tax receipt will be mailed to you the day of the appointed pick-up.

Friends of Webster Library

We get new books constantly so it makes sense to drop in regularly. If you are interested in donating to the store, please check the tab on the sidebar for further information. As FoWL is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, you will receive a tax receipt for your book donations upon request.
