HIGHLIGHT ON: The work of my BEST friend and fellow artist, CARLA BROWN
"I use the 35mm camera like a sketch book, not only as a means of recording visual information quickly but also as a discipline to alert me to nuance and atmosphere. These photos are impressions of everyday objects; like tiles in the overall compositional mosaic, they are presented so as to create a visual buzz of interlacing space and color. The result is an idiosyncratic object, incorporating the involuntary and random variations of taste that subvert the otherwise redundant approach to the image making. Oscillating between the methodical and the incidental, my work explores how abstract systems intersect physical experience."
