Sewing Lessons
I homeschooled my children
for nine years. They are older now and to fill the empty nest I have opened a sewing school in the basement of my home.
It has a private entrance and bath, ( once was a beauty shop ) These classes are for children 6 - 12 but I have
text for preteen, teen and adult. I live in High Point about six miles from the airport, maybe a little further from
Birdford Parkway. I provide the sewing machines and most notions. Text is covered in fee. Limited class
size for optimal hands on instruction. ( max per class = 4 )

Sewing Class
Hi!
My name is Jan Gordon and I plan to teach a Beginning Sewing class for Home Schooled children.
I am a retired elementary school teacher and I have been teaching sewing to "Kidz" for the past 5 years at Hi! SewCiety
in Kernersville after school and in the summers. My "Kidz Have Sew Much Fun" classes are open to kids from
age 8 to 16; after that I include them in my adult sewing classes.
These classes are for kids who want to
learn to sew with the sewing machine or who have sewn just a little before. We start off making a pillowcase with
trim, then a quick tote bag to carry their sewing. Next they graduate to pajama pants and if there is time left in
class they may choose their own pattern to work on. This beginning class runs two hours one day a week for 6
weeks and the cost is $50 plus supplies. If a child wishes to continue , classes will be in 6 week increments and the child
will choose his/her own projects. "Kidz" classes are held with no more than 4 children per class so each child may have
lots of individual attention. The class does require each child to have his/her own sewing machine, but if that's
not possible I have one machine that can be used in class on a first come basis.
I currently have two classroom
locations: on Tuesdays from 10:00 to noon at Hi! SewCiety, 806 R Highway 66, Kernersville, and Fridays from
10:00 to noon at Hobby Lobby on Eastchester in High Point. First day of class is Tuesday, September 26 at
Hi! SewCiety and Friday, September 17 at Hobby Lobby.
If you are interested you may phone me at 886-4151
or send an e-mail to sewsofinly@triad.rr.com I welcome your comments and suggestions.
To register for a class you must phone or e-mail me before class begins. You may pay on the first day of class.
Thanks. Jan

Homeschool Art Class
Hi,
I would like to let your readers know about my art classes.
I will be offering art classes again this year to homeschoolers on Thursday afternoons at 1:00 beginning September 14th
and will run through the end of May. Classes are taught at my studio just south of Thomasville and are open to students
in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Class size is limited to eight children. I will also have a 3:30 class as well.
Classes are for one hour and a half - giving moms time for a Walmart run or to just sit on our porch swing and relax.
The fee is $15 per class paid by the month. The sibling discount is 20%. If we can get at least five students to commit
as a group for any 3 month quarter (I already have 2) I will give a group discount of 20% as well. Tell your friends.
Thanks for your consideration and have a great end of summer!
Sincerely,
Angie Nelson
