Course
Requirements
If you plan to enter college in 2008 or after as a graduate
of Texas Preparatory Academy, you will need to present 22.5 core based courses in the following breakdown: - 4 years of English - courses required
at Texas Prep in this category are Reading Comprehension;World Literature;American Literature and Poetry;English Composition
1301; and/or English Composition 1302
- 4 years of mathematics (Algebra I or
higher) - course required at Texas Prep are Algebra I; Geometry; Algebra II;Pre-Calculus and /or College Algebra.
- 3 years of natural/physical/biological science (one must be a lab science) - courses offered
to meet the requirement are Physical Science; Introduction to Physics and Chemistry; Chemistry;Physics;Biology;Anatomy and
Physiology; and Health.
- 1 year of an additional advanced English, math or science
- 2
years of physical education
- 3.5 years of social studies - courses are Global Geography(.5)
& History(1.0);US History(1.0); Government(.5);and Economics(.5)
5 additional core courses to include Speech Communications(.5
required)and Writing & Word Processing Skills (.5 required). Choices will be made from any area listed above or from foreign
language,sociology, theory, computer technology, art and drama (when offered), nondoctrinal religion or, psychology and philosophy.

Texas Prep offers courses which are comprehensive and advance placement where applicable. Any student in attendance
may achieve a maximum of 4 credits per semester making it possible for an incoming 9th grader to graduate in 3 years.
