Spring Equinox

 

At this time between times, which occurs around March 20 each year, Temple Zagduku focuses on experiential shamanism.

 

 

April 30  -  Inanna's Day

Inanna is the Sumerian Goddess of sexuality and fertility.  We honor her in the spring of the year, when many crops are being planted and the warming temperatures raise libidos.  Inanna is also associated with war; as temperatures increase, so do tempers.

 


Summer Solstice  -  Dumuzi's Day

The summer solstice, which occurs around June 21 each year, is dedicated to Dumuzi, Inanna's beloved.  As this day has the longest period of sunlight of any day of the year, we also celebrate the return of darkness as the nights begin again to grow longer after this day.


Autumn Equinox

 

Temple Zagduku focuses on experiential shamanism at this in-between time, which occurs around September 22 each year.

 

 

October 24  -  Lilitu's Night

This night is dedicated to the honor and celebration of Lilitu, our dark patron.  She is the Sumero-Babylonian Goddess of Wind and imparts the breath of life to those whom she wishes.


Winter Solstice  -  Night of Ereshkigal

The winter solstice, which occurs around December 21 each year, is dedicated to Ereshkigal.  Ereshkigal is Inanna's sister and rules the underworld where Inanna received her initiation through the seven gates.


 Birthdays

Each member's birthday is considered a sacred day for that member.  We remember the divinity of each member on his/her birthday and honor him/her appropriately.
