To look back to the beginning, to see the world as it was when people and their societies first achieved enough complexity to mirror the Cosmos, one has to travel either to Sumer or to Kemet (Egypt).  Sumer is slightly older and in some ways more accessible.  They certainly interacted at various stages, and the myth and ritual of each sheds light on the other.  We have chosen to focus primarily (not exclusively by any means) on Sumer, for various reasons, none more significant than that our Lilitu chose to be our personal Deity, and led us there.

In the Sumerian creation story, the world appeared when the sky was pulled apart from the earth and sea.  "Lil", root word of the name Lilitu, refers to the resulting space and also means wind, as in the winds that blew for the first time when the sky was lifted.  The various cosmic Sumerian deities assumed their domains at this time.
