Johnson Family of Tippah Co., Miss.

 

Henry B. Johnson and wife Elizabeth Maddox lived in Georgia before settling in Tippah Co., Miss. They are first shown in the census records in 1860, with eight of their eleven children:

Henry B. Johnson (1814-1863) married Elizabeth Maddox (b. 1816). . At least one of his sons, Lewis, served as a private in the Civil War in the 34th Mississippi Calvery, Company A. Lewis, born about 1845, married Nancy Jane Clemmer of Tippah Co. on October 25, 1868. Nancy Jane, born about 1848, was the daughter of David Clemmer , (born about 1811 in Dallas, Gaston Co., NC, died 9 March 1906 in Tippah) and Nancy Cannon . Lewis died in 1909 and Nancy Jane died in 1913. They are both buried in Little Hope cemetery, Tippah Co.

Lucy Jane Johnson was born 28 November 1876. Lucy Jane married first John I. Coley and had two daughters, Mary and Myrtle. Mr. Coley died at a young age and Lucy then married Willis (William) Haywood Paul.
