Obedience Classes

Novice Obedience, older than 6 mos.

We want every dog to be in his home forever.  An obedient canine is much more likely to be considered a member of the family is also much more likely to remain with the family for life.  We instruct you on how to teach the dog to pay attention to you; to heel on a loose lead (not yanking about); to sit, lie down, stand still; to stay in all three positions; to come when called.  Diligent students will be ready to compete in entry level obedience trials upon completion of this course.  We offer the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen test at the end of class (week 9) as a graduation evaluation.  Most class sessions have two trainers in attendance so there is plenty of individual attention.

Since there is more to having a dog than being on a leash, we also offer information on nutrition and feeding, the latest vaccine protocols, crate training, behavior problems, and grooming.

Puppy Kindergarten Classes  3 to 10 mos
Puppies are so adorable.  It can be difficult to imagine the little one going through adolescence and becoming an annoyance, but that often happens when rules were not established early.  Puppies should know the same things that the older dogs know, but we train according to age.  Our six-week course includes walking on a leash, sit, down, stand, stay, come, and we also discuss many areas of puppy care such as crate training, teething, and grooming.  We include the American Kennel Club's STAR Puppy evaluation.
