Since 1982, our company has been providing teachers, administrators, counselors and librarians with the most up to date information on certification and teacher preparation. Our book, "Teacher Certification Requirements in All Fifty States" is the result of a painstaking effort to assure that you, our customer, have the most accurate and current information at your fingertips that can be found. In the spring of each year we contact the state departments of education in the fifty states and D.C. to acquire the latest information on their state's certification regulations. The book is subsequently published in the fall with all our information accurate as of July 1st.
It is surprising just how many states make significant changes to their requirements in the course of a single
year. This year, over thirty states had major or minor changes in their certification requirements. Some changes
were as simple as their having joined the Interstate Certification Compact or raising their fee for initial or
re-certification while others required a complete rewrite of all their regulations. We attempt to distill the formal
language found in most states official written regulations so the resultant synopses are clear, concise and free
of the "legalese" and sometimes awkward educational terminology. It is our brevity and clarity that distinguishes
us from our competitors and garners us many, many compliments from our regular users.
All 50 states now have accessible web sites on the World Wide Web. Most include both their requirements and application
information. However, it has been my personal experience that often their complexity and link-depth can still make
finding even a single, simple answer daunting. For this reason, my guide continues to serve its original purpose,
that of simplifying and clarifying the basic information needs of teachers, support personnel, and administrators
who seek to certify or re-certify in their own or other states. New since the Twenty-First Edition: Each state
entry now includes a special recertification brief for your convenience.
You'll find our guide to certification at literally thousands of college and university libraries as well as certification,
guidance, administrative and other educational offices from coast to coast. Many of these agencies, recognizing
the relevance of keeping their shelved references up-to-date, maintain "standing" annual reorders which
we gladly discount. We proudly serve hundreds of public libraries each year as well as many interested individual
education customers. If you shop in educational catalogs and bookstores, you'll find our annual publication listed
in Baker and Taylor Books, EBSCO Subscription Services, Faxon Fullfillment Center, Barnes and Noble and Yankee
Book Peddler.
To all of our current customers, a hearty and sincere thank you! To our
future customers, welcome!
We look forward to serving you all.
