Remember the Name: Robert Kruger

Home

As the National Liaison of the Las Vegas Chapter of DPMA I’m always prepared to, and even happy to, meet anyone who may approach. However, there is one gentleman I’d really rather not meet and his name is Robert Kruger.

I would like to suggest , further, neither do you!

Now, who is the paragon, you might say, which should strike us trembling to our knees? Well... he’s no less than the Director of Enforcement of the Business Software Alliance (BSA).

That’s federal, you all. Washington DC The Big Girls and Boys! ( Don’t get upset guys, ladies first)

Mr. Kruger prosecutes software pirates.

Those of us members who have read our Code of Ethics, and those others who “Read the Package Before Opening”, know that software piracy is a felony. The software giants lost $12.8 billion in 1994.. and they want it stopped!

I assume DPMA members do not do this dastardly deed; however, how many of us would say we do not harbor a felon in our shop?

It seems the Director is now receiving as many as twelve calls a day, many from disgruntled employees, informing on companies who may be illegal.. and guess who’s responsible when an employee commits this crime?

The liability to you firm could be up to $100,000 PER SOFTWARE PROGRAM!

Old Bob is good. He’s settled four lawsuits in 1994.. and if he has to raid your company, he comes equipped with U.S. Marshals. WITH GUNS!

So lets all clean up our houses now!!! Inventory...Inventory...Inventory. But those site licenses. Hire a Security Chief.. Whatever it takes.

Tell them all if you go down you’re not going alone!

And while you’re at it read your Code of Ethics...again.
