Congratulations to Las Vegas #154

Home

Once again the Las Vegas Chapter of DPMA ,The Association of Information Professionals, has shown that we are not only the most forward thinking chapter in the organization; but, that we can "walk the walk" and "talk the talk" of the National as well.

For , once again as in 1988, 1993 and 1994 , the Las Vegas chapter has received COPA.

For you who don't know what that means, and many don't so don't be embarrassed, it is the "Chapter Outstanding Performance Award". This award come dearly to any chapter. To obtain it the chapter must follow very stringent rules in many areas.

Publicity of regular meetings, holding of twelve meetings a year of which nine must be Information System related. Members who write technical articles and members who stand as speakers for the non- computer literate.

Supporting an active student chapter (Las Vegas has two) with scholarships, job lines, internships and mentoring. Publishing a periodical . Membership retention. Obtaining new membership of outstanding character (you did know the board must vote on acceptance into the organization?)

In other words the chapter must promote and guide ourselves, each other and our companies into the ever changing world of Information Systems; with the end result being a win-win solution for all. Our companies shine because we bring them the best advice ( as well as the best Web Pages) and we shine because of the accolades of a job well done.

This epitomizes a COPA chapter and doing so, while sitting on the "bleeding edge", is an accomplishment within itself even if we never won an award.

So when we proudly hang the chapter yellow banner at the monthly meetings, do a little silent salute to yourselves.

Without you and your accomplishments the banner would not contain the patches of COPA.
