Our trip to Silver City, Idaho was like a trip back in time. Silver City is often called the "queen of ghost towns" because of its size and state of preservation.

At its height, Silver City had a population around 2,500. There were over 300 homes and 75 businesses not to mention the numerous mines in operation. Now about 70 buildings remain and the population is listed as 6.

This is one of my favorite buildings in Silver City. I like to imagine what it must have looked like 130 years ago. It is still in such wonderful condition that it isn't that hard.

The richest vein of silver in the United States was discovered in Silver City and one of the most serious mining wars was fought here.

This school house now serves as a museum. It is a must see on your trip to Silver City.

Nestled high in the mountains, Silver City is being preserved and renovated by a handful of dedicated residents.
