Rare Sterling Silver 16" Vase by Newburyport Silver Co.:   $500.00
1904-1914

Upright view of Newburyport Sterling Vase
  • A handsome 18" fluted octagonal vase with elegant floral design down the length of 4 sides. The base is 5 1/6" diameter.
  • Condition is excellent with very little wear. There are a few very small pits marks way down at the very bottom, inside. This high quality vase is worthy of use in any church or would make a great entrance hall addition.
  • Marks: "NS Co" "Sterling 16in" and "98" or 86" which was probably it's reference number. This is the mark of  Newburyport Silver Co. of Keene, NH. According to Rainwater's Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers, p. 171, Newburyport Silver Co. "was organized in 1904.... Poor management led the firm into bankruptcy in 1914." 1
