"Artistic Host"
A journalist once reffered to David Lynch as "Norman Rockwell on payote". After reading this I immediately began to visualize this piece in my mind. Reference was sought to complete the pieces of the puzzle, which revealed themselves extremely easily . Each symbol marks a parallel position on Rockwell's "Triple Self Portrait" painting. Coffee, Donuts, Cherry Pie, the Log, the Fish from the percolator, scorched engine oil, one bloody rag, an Exacto knife, the "R" from underneath Laura's fingernail magnified, and of course Deer Antlers. Positioned on the canvas (top right, clockwise) are: Cooper, The Giant, The Man from Another Place, Laura (in plastic) and Leland Palmer. Both comedic and terrifying at the same time "Bob", is reflected in the mirror , and the subject of a painting within a painting. signed by the artist, in Rockwell fashion of course.
One of my most satisfying moments creatively.
