Things Caught in the Web

Now apparently North Dakota wants to change it's name since, apparently, people won't think they are so far north if they take the "North" out of their name. By that logic, isn't South Dakota worried that people will think they're on the Gulf Coast or something? Glad to know that we have people worried about things like that.

As much as I love gadgets, I've never had a need for a combination digital camera and MP3 player since I've never really had the need for using both at the same time...

This is an interesting article speculating on if the builders of the pyramids used kites but is mainly worth it for the quote: "All I can remember from history is that Egyptians drank beer for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and as someone who has done field research on drinking beer, I know after I've had two beers and it's really hot, I'm not pushing or pulling anything"

Turkish Reality TV Game Show . Just an article about a TV show, but worth it for the line "...and 19-year-old Hasan Haciosmanoglu, who's 19..." (As opposed to 19-year-olds who aren't 19, I suppose.)

Now who would go to their prom wearing an outfit made out of duct tape . Why? OK, the "ducktapeclub.com" domain worries me too.

Square Watermelons . Whatever.

The American Film Institute (AFI) has released their list of the top 100 movie thrillers but I have to wonder where they came up with some of these. The Wizard of Oz is a thriller? Casablanca is a thriller? What kind of criteria are they using here? Should this list just be "100 movies we kinda, sorta, really like"?

Yes, there is now a Ramen Noodle Museum . The statistics here are interesting: 40 Billion Ramen Noodles sold each year and 6.6 Million Cup-o-Noodles sold a day .

June 11, 2001 - Monday

Internet Flamewar Trading Cards . Gotta flame 'em all!

June 8, 2001 - Friday

Just to be different, here's an actually useful site: an Oracle SQL Reference . Well, useful for me anyway.

And, with the latest installment of research gone wild, we now have anti-flatulance drugs for sheep . Yes, sheep. Once again, I want to see the proposal for this grant...

June 6, 2001 - Wednesday

I like photography, so I would actually like to do one of these Big Animal Photography Expeditions . Not that I could afford it.
