Overview:An attorney in need of a heart transplant is pleased when a brain-dead suicide victim is brought to the hospital and makes a deal with Antubis to get what he needs. Peter discovers the link between Mary, the hospital and the Gates Falls Mill fire. Rolf demonstrates that he is not out of the picture yet. Elmer and Dr. Massingale make an interesting discovery in the sleep lab. Dr. Hook vows to make Dr. Stegman pay for his misdeeds. Summary:In an expensive house by a lake, a man sits on the side of a bed; a woman sleeping beside him. He gets up and walks outside. At Kingdom Hospital, Dr. Stegman drives his car into the parking lot but cannot find a space. The street teens on the corner again laugh at him. He pounds on the wheel in frustration. The man from the house gets a phone call, apparently about his wife. Someone has seen his wife somewhere; recognizable by her tattoo. He accepts this with resignation and returns to the house where he takes a gun from a drawer. Bobby is in the security booth with Otto where he is heating up some food in the microwave. He mentions that he went to Swartston's hotel room to retrieve his computer for him, saying that Swartston claims to have turned it into an earthquake predictor. He is interrupted by Otto who watches a monitor in disbelief as Stegman drives his car onto the helipad and parks it there. He yells at the monitor that he can't park there but Bobby observes that it has been years since they had a life-flight come in. Back at the lake house, we see the sleeping woman again; a large tattoo of a red dragon on her back. She has been shot in the head. The man sits on the other side of the bed, holding the gun against his own head. His phone rings and the camera pans to it as we hear the gun fire. Bobby drops the food he was heating. Otto unhooks Blondie and lets her eat the dropped food. In the room he shares with Peter, Swartston is sleeping. His computer runs on a nearby table, apparently displaying the ground movements in the area. Natalie looks at Peter, who also appears asleep. She observes that she likes Mrs. Druse, even if she is "a bit batty". Peter, speaking though only we can hear, says that when everything is batty then only the batty can see clearly. At this point, Able and Christa arrive. Christa sees Mary's doll, which apparently Mrs. Druse has left with Peter, and recognizes it. She tells Peter that the doll is just like him; "She can't talk, but she has stories inside of her." She and Abel leave. Meanwhile, Elmer is trying to get the ink marks off of his neck and cannot. He is angry but Dr. Gupta tells him he is lucky since Dr. Havens obviously knows he took the head. He suddenly asks if the head is still in Elmer's locker and Elmer rushes off to check. Outside of Fleisher and Rolf's room, Carrie again finds the guard sent to keep watch on Rolf. She tries to talk to him but the guard simply stares at Rolf, saying that if he tries anything again then there will be no need to call a code. Inside, Fleisher is having an argument with his wife. She is angry with him for the situation with Tiffany but he denies knowing her or anything about it. He also claims to have amnesia about what happened in the courtroom but she quickly trips him up. Trying to change the subject, he asks about Rolf. She tells him that Rolf is a prisoner and about Rolf's suicide attempts. Fleisher implies that Rolf may make a suitable organ donor for him. Elsewhere in the hospital, Dr. Draper is telling Dr. Hook about an article she has coming out in the New England Journal of Neurology. Hook says he is looking forward to reading it but she says he will have to wait until it is published. She then gets a calculating look and says he will have to wait unless he knows a way to get advance sheets. With a smile, Hook asks if she is testing him and, picking up a phone, asks for Benjamin Bates in the medical library. Back in the security booth, Otto is frantically trying to find Dr. Stegman. A life-flight helicopter is on its way and Stegman's car is blocking the helipad. He says he will have to tow the car unless Stegman is found. Peter thinks of the comment Christa made and manages to take hold of the doll with one hand. He is able to pull the back of the doll open, revealing some papers within. Natalie sees the papers and takes them, finding them to be newspapers from 1869. The papers describe the aftermath of the fire at the Gates Falls Mill. The fire was believed to have started in the basement and to be caused by children smoking. The Mill had many child workers and most of them died in the fire, though most of the adult workers managed to escape. The paper notes that seven of the children were never found and that the mill was founded by William Gottreich in 1850. As she finishes reading, the lights flicker and screams can be heard in the distance. Dr.Swartston wakes up and looks at his computer where the ground movement display now looks like flames surrounding the hospital. A tow truck arrives while Otto continues to attempt to locate Dr. Stegman. He has Stegman paged again but Stegman doesn't hear it because he has music turned up loud in his office while he "directs" it. When the song finishes he turns it off and tells Dr. Abelson that he has a paper coming out in the New England Journal of Neurology but that he will have to wait until it comes out to show it to her. The two kiss then he asks her if she knew there was a copy of the Klingerman anethesiologist report and if the same thing that happened to the original could also happen to the copy. She is surprised but says that she can take care of it, if he would only become less angry and more affectionate. He kisses her again then announces that he has solved his parking problem. He opens the blinds on his window to show her, just in time to see his car being towed away. He screams in outrage. In the locker room, Elmer discovers the head is missing. Observations: |
