Summary:

John floats in the water at the base of the cliff, seemingly unconscious, while several armed Peacekeepers watch from the top. Oo-Nii appears and swims around John.

John regains consciousness and attempts to leave the water. Oo-Nii grabs him and they struggle but eventually he manages to drag John beneath the surface. The Peacekeepers on the cliff watch, unable to intervene.

Oo-Nii drags John through an underwater tunnel and into a pool in a cave. He tells John that Vella was his friend and that he will not allow John to turn the Darnez Probes over to Grayza. John insists that he has no plans to but Oo-Nii does not believe him as he has seen John and Grayza together.

John repeats that he will not show Grayza where the last probe landed. Oo-Nii is surprised to learn that John knows where the third probe is and demands that he tell him. John refuses and Oo-Nii shoves him under the water.

He is about to drown John when D'Argo and Sikozu appear. D'Argo says that he was only supposed to find John, not drown him. Oo-Nii backs off and D'Argo starts to help John out of the pool. Then, he and Sikozu both smell something and flinch back, dropping John into the water again.

Sikozu identifes the smell as Heppel Oil, commonly used by Delos Concubines who have a gland which produces it implanted between their breasts. She says that it is a perfume that targets the erogenous zones with the results that John discovered with Grayza. But she cannot understand why Grayza would want one since it shortens their lifespans by many cycles. John is surprised that they knew about him and Grayza and is embarrassed when D'Argo tells him that everyone knows.

John says that he won't go anywhere near Grayza again but D'Argo says he has to. Chiana and Jool are still prisoners and they need him to distract her while they perform a rescue. John asks what their plan is but D'Argo won't tell him, saying that he may not be able to keep from telling Grayza everything. He also says that John will have to look as if he was injured. John says he can fake it but D'Argo tongues him and he falls unconscious.

Some time later, John is lying unconscious across a rock at the edge of the ocean. A Peacekeeper trooper finds him and calls for the others.

John awakens to find himself in a chamber in the ruins, tied to a stone slab. Grayza appears and softly berates him for trying to escape. John says he wasn't; he thought someone was trying to throw him off the cliff.

Grayza collects some of the Heppel oil from her chest and waves it under John's nose. He flinches backwards. She then leans close to him and tells him that if he will tell her why the Scarrans want him so badly then she will help him find his love, Aeryn Sun.

Elsewhere, Braca drags Scorpius into the holding cells. Scorpius is on all fours and on a leash and Braca forces him to drink from a bowl of water on the floor.

In one of the cells, Chiana is threatening the Old Woman and saying she thought she was going to help John. The Old Woman says that he had to die. Frustrated, Chiana goes and sits on the far side of the cell.

Jool tells her that it won't matter soon and points to the magnetics sensor on the far wall. She says that the magnetics are starting to spike and that all of them will be dead in ten arns.

They are interrupted by the arrival of Sikozu, who demands to know who is in charge.

D'Argo's ship arrives on Elack and D'Argo calls for Rygel. They meet and D'Argo explains the plan. They want Elack to crash into the Marauders parked on the planet. All of them will escape under the cover of the explosion and be away before the Command Carrier can track them. Rygel thinks Elack will agree since she and her Pilot both know they will die soon anyway.

He asks if John knows about the plan and D'Argo says he doen't and that he probably wouldn't agree with it if he did. Rygel starts to leave but tells D'Argo that the plan will fail because Sikozu will sell them out. D'Argo says he has no choice but to trust her.

On the planet, John is still lying on the stone slab but the straps have been removed, as have some of his clothes. Grayza is lying beside him and running a hand over his chest.

John is talking about wormholes, saying that they are always out there but usually they cannot be seen because they are "sideways". He also says that he knows where they are. Graya listens attentively.

They are interrupted by the arrival of Braca. Grayza tries to get him to leave but he insists and eventually she gets up and goes to meet him. While she is away from him John picks up a small knife which is lying near the slab.

Sikozu enters along with several other Peacekeepers. She, Grayza and Braca talk then Grayza returns to where John is still lying on the slab. She tells John that D'Argo's plan has failed and that he will soon be captured and killed.

John swings the knife towards her but is unable to complete the swing. He struggles to force his hand forward but she takes the knife from him. She places the tip of the knife against his throat then lightly slides the tip down his chest and across his abdomen. She pauses to unfasten his pants before sliding the knife further down still.

John watches as she does this but continues to talk, saying that she would never be doing anything like this on her own and asks if Scorpius is telling her what to do, calling her Scorpius' whore. She looks down at the knife then back at him.

Some time later, John is outside somewhere and digging a large hole. Grayza is there with several Peacekeepers as is Sikozu, Chiana and the Old Woman. Grayza tells John to get out of the hole as Braca appears, dragging Scorpius on the leash.

Grayza goes to John and offers him a pulse pistol. She says that the pistol has a single charge in it and, if he thinks Scorpius is behind everything, for him to kill Scorpius and ruin everything. John says that he doesn't think the pistol is charged.

Grayza walks away and gives the pistol to Braca. Braca pulls Scorpius to his feet, shoves the pistol against his back and fires. The blast rips through Scorpius, blood flying from his chest and foam from his mouth. Braca releases Scorpius who falls face first into the hole.

John is startled but Chiana seems pleased. Grayza orders Sikozu to enter the hole and find out if Scorpius is dead. She does and says that he is.

Grayza then tells them to kill Sikozu. She is stunned by this but John seems to find it amusing. Scorpius then whispers to Sikozu, telling her to say "skernac". He says it will save her.

Chiana offers to shoot Sikozu if no one else will and the guards are about to kill her when Sikozu yells out "Skernac". Grayza orders them to hold their fire and for Sikozu to leave the hole. As she does, Scorpius whispers to not let them bury him.

Grayza asks Sikozu how she knows a Special Directorate code and Sikozu says she knows the same way Grayza does. She then suggest that they leave Scorpius where he is, to scare the others more. Grayza disagrees with this and tells the troopers to bury him. The Peacekeepers begin to fill in the hole.

Elsewhere, D'Argo moves quietly though the dig site, trying to avoid Peacekeeper patrols. He contacts Rygel and asks if Elack and Pilot are ready. Pilot says they are and Rygel leaves, looking saddened.

Some time later, John is in the same chamber as before and again with Grayza. He tells her that he doesn't know anything else about Scarrans and she replies by saying they don't have to talk about them.

John is distracted by a Laka crawling up the wall and flashes back to when the Old Woman told him that if he crushes one and inhales it then nothing will bother him for a while. Grayza regains his attention by waving some more of her Heppel oil under his nose and they kiss.

Chiana, Jool and the old woman are again in their cell; two Peacekeepers standing guard outside. Sikozu arrives and, telling the guards to stay back, enters the cell. She is immediately grabbed by Jool who threatens to kill her.

Sikozu tells them that she is working with D'Argo and this is all part of the plan to get them out. Chiana demands to know what "Skernac" means but Sikozu says she does not know; only that it protected them.

Jool tells Chiana to cover Sikozu's ears. Sikozu is confused but Chiana does and Jool screams, melting their manacles.

Skikozu leaves the cell and the two guards turn to watch her go. Chiana and Jool take the opportunity to knock the guards out.

Back with John and Grayza, John is lying on the slab while Grayza is examining the tile he found earlier. He tells her about the Sebacean, Interon and Human symbols and she says she is not surprised to learn their species are related. While she examins the tile, John takes one of the Laka and rips it apart.

Grayza comes back to John and he turns to keep her from seeing the Laka. She asks what is wrong and he says his back is hurting. She goes to kiss his back and he takes the opportunity to shove the Laka up his nose and sniff. Grayza says she hears his heart. John turns as if to kiss her again then pins her beneath him, face down on the slab.

D'Argo is near the entrance to the ruins and gives a command. Lo'La drops her deception shroud and becomes visible. He then calls Rygel and tells him to tell the Pilot to start her descent in 1000 microts.

Rygel is in a pod which is being repaired by 1812. He relays the request to the Pilot, who seems even more confused and out of it than usual. Instead of waiting the Pilot starts Elack's engines and they start their descent immediately, much to the annoyance of Rygel who yells that he is still on board and can't leave yet. The Pilot does not seem to be able to hear him.

John has Graya secured by the same straps that were holding him earlier. Grayza does not seem upset by this and, when John spanks her a moment later, seems to enjoy it. John hears a call from D'Argo on his comm and, leaving Grayza, gets dressed and picks up his pulse pistol. Grayza yells for him to stay but he tells her that he knows that she was using her Heppel oil on him and turns to leave. He stops at the doorway.

"You never heard my heart." he tells her.

He leaves with Grayza yelling after him.

John almost immediately runs into a Peacekeeper patrol led by Braca. They begin firing at each other and John is pinned down. His weapon runs out of power but at that moment Chiana, Jool, Sikozu and the old woman arrive. Together they are able to force the Peacekeepers back enough for them to escape.

D'Argo yells for them saying that Elack has started his dive early. Rygel is still trying to get the attention of the Pilot so he can escape.

Grayza, now free, is leading a group of Peacekeeper troopers of her own when she encounters Braca and his troops. Braca tells her that John and the others have a ship after all. Grayza tells him that they must not be allowed to escape.

John and the others make it to the exit but hear the roar as Elack dives through the atmosphere. They duck back into the ruin and take cover.

Rygel finally gets through to the Pilot, who is surprised he is still on board. She manages to get Elack to pull out of the dive at the last moment, though he does clip part of the ruin. Elack pulls up in a large loop and Rygel escapes in the pod.

John and the others run for Lo'La. John provides cover fire as the others get on board, even throwing his pistol at the Peacekeepers when it runs out of power. He jumps on board at the last second.

Elack completes his loop and crashes, hitting short of the marauders but tumbling end-over-end over them before exploding. Lo'La barely manages to escape in time.

Grayza, Braca and several Peacekeepers are still inside the ruins. Grayza points out that the magnetics are spiking and Braca reports that two of the Marauders have been destroyed but that the third is still operational. He says they can get to their Command Carrier on it but Grayza, angrily, says that the Command Carrier can pick them up in flight; they are going after John and the others.

The Marauder flies off into space but Lo'La lands back on the planet. D'Argo says he launched a satillite probe and the Marauder is following it. He was forced to land because Lo'La was damaged and needs repairs.

John is concerned that the Command Carrier will come back for them when they discover the deception but Jool says that the magnetics have spiked and that if they do not get off the planet within an hour they will all be killed. John asks D'Argo if he can make the repairs in that time and D'Argo does not think he can. John says they need to find the Darnez probes and runs off, Jool following.

The old woman, who had been left on the planet when the others escaped, has encountered Oo-Nii. Oo-Nii demands to know where John saw the third probe. The old woman comes to realize that it was Oo-Nii, not Vella, who wanted the probes as a weapon and that it was Oo-Nii who killed her. She to tell Oo-Nii where the third probe is, saying she will die first.

John and Jool arrive and John starts talking to the old woman, not realizing that Oo-Nii is the danger until too late. He turns to find Oo-Nii wielding a carver and pointing it at him. Oo-Nii says he will kill John or the old woman if they do not tell him where the third probe is. Knowing that they need the probe to survive the magnetic summer, John agrees to lead him to it.

John, Jool and the old woman lead Oo-Nii to where John saw the probe fall. Oo-Nii uses the carver to unearth the probe then turns to kill John and the others. Chiana, who was hiding nearby, throws a rock and hits Oo-Nii, distracting him enough to let John attack him. Oo-Nii drops the carver but keeps the probe and, running to the cliff, jumps into the ocean. Jool gets the carver but is unable to fire without risking the probe.

The old woman points out that Oo-Nii can stay underwater until the magnetic summer passes but that the rest of them will die. She then produces Winona, which she has kept hidden somewhere, and throws it into the ocean after Oo-Nii. With a disgusted look, John dives in after it. Jool gives the carver to Chiana then runs off to where Vella had hidden the other two probes.

John finds where Winona has landed underwater and retrieves it, only to be attacked by Oo-Nii (which causes him to drop Winona again). The two struggle in the water for some time before she gets a clear shot at Oo-Nii, who his holding John underwater. With a flare, Oo-Nii is turned into a cloud of air bubbles which quickly disappate.

John is still underwater, apparently unconscious. Chiana calls to him and he somehow hears her and thrashes to the surface. He dives underwater twice, the first time coming up with the probe and the second with Winona.

Jool returns with the other two probes and she, John and Chiana each take one and spread out. All of them are struggling with the effects of the magnetics but all manage to get the correct distance and slam the probes into the ground.

At first nothing happens. Then, the probes rise into the air; slowly at first, then faster. The probes streak into the sky then there is a flare as the magnetics are reversed. The effects of the Darnez Triangle are ended and everything is back to normal.

Everyone is happy with their success and happy to be alive. Then, John calls to them. The lost temple has reappeared where the ruins used to be and he can see the red-robed figures moving inside of it. The old woman speculates that when the Darnez Triangle was formed it trapped the temple in time and, now that the triangle is gone, the temple has reappeared. Jool realizes that the priests in the temple probably do not realize that time has passed and, after a moment's thought, goes to meet them.

Later, everyone is saying goodbye. Jool has decided to remain behind to help the priests learn of what has happened in the thousands of years they have been trapped. Everyone decides that she will be safe since she is the only one of them not being hunted by the Peacekeepers. She and John talk and agree that everything they have learned indicates that their races are linked. She wants him to stay but realizes that he can't until he has found Aeryn.

Everyone leaves except D'Argo. Jool apologizes to him, starting off by saying he may not have been Vella's intellectual equal. He interrupts to say he is now, since Vella is a rock. They both laugh and Jool says she is trying to apologize.

"You have more courage, integrity and honesty than a dozen Vellas." she tells him. "And I should have said that to her."

D'Argo smiles and gives her a long, tender kiss. Then, with a final stroke of her cheek, he turns and leaves without a word. Jool looks after him sadly, a tear on her face.

Elsewhere, Grayza and Braca are back on their Command Carrier. Grayza is angry that John and the others escaped and says they will pay for the humiliation. She then tells Braca if she ever hears anyone say anything about what happened on the planet, then he will suffer the consequences. Braca does not look happy.

Elsewhere still, Lo'La flies through space; John's module being towed behind it. Everyone seems somewhat unhappy aboard Lo'La. D'Argo says that at least Jool is no longer being hunted by the Peacekeepers and has a purpose in life.

"Unlike us." says Chiana.

The old woman disagrees, saying that John has a purpose. John, in his module, asks why she tried to kill him and she says it was because she couldn't take the chance of him telling Grayza where the probes were. He then asks her name.

"Uta-Noranti-Pralatong." she says.

"Well, Noranti, you're right." he says. "I do have a purpose." He stares out the cockpit into space.
