What the heck's going on?

Groping through this dark tunnel
Of desire and pain
The getting of my wants but a cold cruel joke.
I know not where I am, nor where I go.
If I step ahead, I know not whether these steps
will lead me out into light and freedom,
or if I'll just end up deeper in darkness...

And words don't really clarify a thing.
Anything can be done with words,
Therefore they are meaningless.
Rhetoric and arguments can turn the sun
Into a snowflake,
Or a rabbit into a lion.

But yet there is truth, and truth
can be said with words.
So maybe truth itself is a big grand contradiction
And everything's gonna be all right.
Euphoria and despair are both parts of the same equation.

What are the elements of an equation?
Well, let's see--we've got constants, variables,
and operators, including of course the equal sign,
which is part of the word, "equation"........
