Two types of tapes are available, one which is made from movie film and the other shot on video. The movies are mainly ones I shot during the mid 50's along with some acquired from others and transferred to video. All are in color but unfortunately are silent. I have provided a bit of narration, but not very much. The other video tapes consist of material shot on video in more recent times from the mid 80's to the present. All are in color and have sound. A range of different video equipment was used starting with early portable VHS equipment, proceeding next to Hi8 and currently I shoot with a hi-end digital camcorder. The early tapes made in the 80's now comprise what could be considered vintage video. The rest is of more modern material. Some have maps and added narration, but there is no narration over the original sound. And as noted before I am in the process of converting all of these to dvd format and as each is changed, it will be added to the DVD List. To help you, converted tapes are marked with an {*}. Prices for dvd's are different from those of tapes, so check with the dvd listings.

VINTAGE MOVIES
Vintage 8's
These are transfers from 8mm movies shot mainly in the mid 50's and into the early 60's. All are in color, but there is no sound. Some of the tapes have narration, but this is limited to introductory material before the movies. There is no music accompanying the movies. Steam in regular service normal day to day operations are featured. Also included are fantrip runs by now gone steam locomotives. An occasional diesel does appear, and most that appear can now be considered as rare as the steam locomotives they replaceded. Traction is also provided on separate tapes. The reproduction is as good a possible from such a small medium, but the action and authenticity provided makes up for any loss in sharpness. In this first set I also include a comprehensive scene-by-scene listing, with comments, to make up for the lack of narration. A {*} before a listing indicates this tape is available on dvd.
