CIS 361 Architecture of the Internet and the World Wide Web - 3 UNITS


Introduces you to the architecture of the Internet and World Wide Web. It covers the history of the internet, the server-client paradigm, HTML (hypertext markup language), XML (extensible markup language), web site design and organization, HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol), TCP/IP, CGI (common gateway interface), server- and client-side program and script deployment, web server installation and configuration, and necessary Unix skills.

After completing this course, you will have a working knowledge of the architecture of a Web site and a familiarity with the architecture and structure of the Internet and its basic services.

You will also have an introductory knowledge of basic features and concepts related to the Internet and World Wide Web, with an emphasis specific to WWW site design, creation, and maintenance for e-commerce applications.



Prerequisite


CIS 1 Computer Concepts and Software Systems, CIS 17 Computer Applications for Business Communications, or consent of the instructor. To take this class, you should be familiar with basic programming concepts and Windows operation. If you have any questions regarding the prerequisites for this course, please see the instructor as soon as possible.
