This past year, the MRFA "adopted" Shoemet Pond (also known as Clubhouse Pond) in Warwick, Massachusetts as a very special project. This area consists of a beautiful pond and surrounding woodlands that is treasured by local anglers, canoeists, and kayakers. This is State owned property, but unfortunately over the years signs have been destroyed and people have been vandalizing the area with trash, broken bottles and tearing up the land with ATV's.
The MRFA met with Department of Conservation and Recreation officials in October and proposed several ideas for new signs and to make everyone aware that this is State owned property and that vandalism will not be tolerated. Through our efforts, the State has installed a new sign stating that Shoemet Pond is State property and the environmental police are conducting regular patrols of the area. The MRFA also stocks trout here, along with the State. Please help us keep this area as beautiful as nature created it. This is a great place for all to enjoy.

If you see anyone dumping trash or vandalizing the area, please contact Peter Mallett at (978) 544-7126 or contact your local police department. The MRFA is offering a $1,000.00 reward to anyone who provides information leading to the conviction of the perpetrators of such actions.
