Paula Pelletier-Butler, LMP
After 5 years in the non-profit field, she desired a career change and chose to continue to explore women’s health through the power of touch. Her bodywork career began with Shiatsu in 1991. During that training both she and her instructor became pregnant centering the instruction around women’s health. She then went on to complete an accredited massage program, pregnancy/infant certification, extensive Lomilomi training, aromatherapy, reflexology, advanced myofascial release, and Arvigo Mayan Abdominal Massage. Her private practice in Seattle and Vashon is an integration of techniques for women not only during pregnancy but also issues during menarche through menopause, infertility, pelvic pain, PMS, short and long term post-partum, pre/post gynecologic surgeries, and breast cancer. In addition to her private practice she has taught at Seattle area massage schools, spas, and massage associations since 1995. She helped develop and implement curriculum for Seattle Massage School/Ashmead College including the first pregnancy massage workshop incorporated in to the program. She is the author of the forthcoming text, Integrative Bodywork for Women: Gynecologic Care in Massage Therapy and teaches the concept of Gynecologic Bodywork to massage therapists on the west-coast and plans to bring this important work nationwide. Integrative Bodywork for Women is a culmination not only of Paula’s experience, but also extensive research and collaboration with other practitioners in the women‘s health care field. She currently lives on Vashon Island with her husband and two children who inspire her every day. |
