Hard to remember that only 6 years ago, in February 2001 when I created this web page, there was no widespread public knowledge that global climate change was already making big alterations in weather, in plant growth, in animal behavior, and in polar and glacial ice. Back then you almost never saw a newspaper or TV report on the subject, even though scientists were very aware of what was going on, even though the first article in National Geographic about the effects of global climate change was published in 1990.
Now you see such reports practically everyday. It is clear that global climate change is powerful, present, and increasing. Whatever the reason, whether you like it or not, it is here. This is the biggest issue facing humanity this century, far far more important than wars or political elections.
The available information on the subject is vast. You would have a full time job finding and reviewing the value of new reports.
I will suggest just one thing, the recent book The Weather Makers by Tim Flannery (Atlantic Monthly Press, 2006). See The Weather Makers web site, and book reviews at Amazon.com.
