On December 5, 1999, I took the best vacation in my life.
Laurel and I went to the Western Carribbean on the Celebrity Mercury, a cruise ship that was first class all the way.
What can I say? The cruise was perfect. Everything fell into place. The food was great (but you could only get it 23 hours a day), the ports were great, the crew was great, even the fellow passengers were great.

We enjoyed the excursions, but the little things were nice.
Items of note: Stargazing from our balcony (yes, we had a stateroom with a balcony); going to the gym, followed by a soak in the spa's jacuzzi; having a Citrus Martini; having our bags picked up at the airport and delivered right to our cabin; having a small (2-tush) sofa in our room; funny comedians in the theater (or should I say, the "Theatre"); daily pizza and frozen yogurt; enjoying a glass of Port while listening to the string quartet (there was live entertainment all over).
Other items of note: Waltz lessons; having our ice bucket filled twice a day; sitting in the empty nightclub during the day, with its picture windows on three sides, looking out on the ocean; a large bathroom; food carvings; having tea in our room before bedtime; playing Ping Pong on deck; playing shuffleboard.
Even more items of note: Being rocked to sleep every night; incredible food; boullion; art auctions; having a Rasul treatment; cloth covers on the cafeteria trays during the buffet; having a Havana cigar in the Cigar Bar; winning some money in the casino!
