The back field is the largest that we have so far and it is about 600'long by 600' wide. It is a combination of natural cover, from the numerous Oaks and Pines growing on it, and man-made bunkers. All of the bunkers on the back field are made from what was there and nothing artificial has been hauled in to augment it. There are a lot of open shooting lanes and good running areas for those that wish to play a faster game. Capture the Flag is the primary game played on this field. As a bonus, even on the hottest days there is usually a bit of a breeze moving through and plenty of shade to fight for. The biggest attraction on this field is what we call"The Maze of Doom". It is a fairly large series of channels formed from the brush that littered the field before we got it all cleaned up. Basically what I ended up with is a series above ground trenches, and without all the digging. What didn't get put on the Maze, ended up as a fence line along three sides of the field, so the boundaries are clearly marked.
As you can see from the new pics, there is now a fort on the backfield. It is pretty much centered up on the newly resized field. It is still under construction, but should be ready to play very soon. It measures roughly 30 feet by 30 feet with an elevated shooting platform at each corner. I think this will open up the possibilities for new games to be played in the woods. I like this because there is more shade on those hot summer days.
Two of the games I am thinking of for it are Attack and Defend and Capture the Fort. I am still working out the rules on the Capture game, but I think it will work. Fans of EMR will recognize it as "Castle Numbskull". Hey, Blue has some good things out there and that is one of them.

Palletstine is a work in progress. I am hoping to get the trenches in and the bridge up before the summer is over. I'm not sure if that's going to happen or not, but time will tell. Right now it can and has been played, but it is a bit thin, though the tall grass and weeds make for a crawlers delight. Witht eh four corner towers being in range of the center station, it gets a little hectic trying to grab the flag. I want the field to be a good mix of up close, intense play and good longball opportunities for those that like to hang back a bit.

The village is shaping up nicely and has expanded beyond where I thought it might. It has turned out to be the most popular field so far. I still have some work to do on it, but I am getting it there. The problem I seem to run into the most is keeping myself in check when I start working on it. As more peoplke have played it and made suggestions, my imagination goes berzerk and, at least in my mind, I have torn it down and rebuilt it about five times so far. For now I will just stick with rearranging the ocassional building or two and moving the barrels around.
