Authors Note: This fic has actually been a great source of pain and suffering for me. I've wanted to do this since before Christmas but I didn't have the time. Then when I finally got the time I heard about Tenchi OVA three, which was going to focus on the three goddesses. This meant I'd probably end up contradicting something along the way. I finally decided "What the hell. Tenchi already has three alternate universes why not go for more." So I revived the project. As to what this fic is... Simply put it's adding the events from Magical Project S (Pretty Sammy TV series) into the Tenchi OVA universe. For those of you who haven't seen Magical Project S, I highly recommend the first and the last four tapes in the series. The other three tapes aren't as good, but watch able. For those of you who have seen the series it should be fairly similar. However since this Sasami (and her family) are very different, there should be some new stuff even for those seen the series. Oh finally, I've added Kiyone to the OVA cast. Simply because she's cool. This really shouldn't affect the story too much though. Chapter One Misao Outside the Masaki household the birds began their morning song. Some of the residents found this pleasing. Others, due to bad hearing, deep sleeping habits or liberal application of alcohol to the brain, simply did not care. This morning, Ryoko was not part of either group. "Damn earth creatures." Ryoko stuffed the pillows over her head in a futile attempt to block out the chirps and whistles. Finally she came, unwillingly, to the conclusion she was going to be awake, whether she wanted to be or not. As she put on her clothes she began to pull together her thoughts, namely, *Why am I sober enough for this to bother me?* "That's right! Today's the first day of school on this planet. I was going to see Tenchi off." Ryoko glanced at the wall clock. *Good, fifteen minutes before he should leave. Plenty of time.* Ignoring the minor inconveniences along the way, (walls) Ryoko floated down to the kitchen figuring Tenchi would be there. No sane member, or insane member for that matter, of the household deliberately missed breakfast if Sasami was cooking. Which was almost always. Immediately upon entering the kitchen, however, she realized something was wrong. Tenchi, Sasami, and that irritating princess Aeka were there, the table had breakfast on it, but Sasami was eating, not cooking; and there were three bentos instead of the usual two. "Good morning Ryoko," Tenchi said with his typical smile. "You're up early today," Sasami remarked while picking out a few pickled carrots. "Yes. Normally you worm your way out of bed much later." Aeka replied with her usual arrogance. Ryoko ignored her, for now. "Sasami, why are you wearing a fuku??" Sasami smiled. "I'm going to be going to school on earth too." Ryoko blinked. "Why?" Aeka tilted her head for that perfect stuck up princess look. "Someone like you wouldn't understand, but being a princess requires a lot of knowledge. I myself had the best tutors on Jurai." Ryoko smirked. "Well since your sister surpasses you in everything else, she should have no problems, then." Aeka seemed to rise to twice her height while flames licked the background. Ryoko continued to smirk. Sasami, used to such occurrences, continued on with the conversation. "It should be fun. I should meet a lot of friends my age." Ryoko, Aeka and Tenchi all looked at her with concern. They all had guessed at one point or another that it must be hard on Sasami to not be around anyone even remotely close to her age. Everyone, except Ryo-oh-ki, in the Masaki household was at least twice her age, whether they acted it or not. Sasami had to have been lonely at times. Especially since Aeka spent most of her time with Tenchi or arguing with Ryoko. Sasami, busy with breakfast, missed those glances. Sasami cleaned her plate, then stood up. "I guess we should be going, right Tenchi?" Tenchi nodded "Right. We don't want to be late on your first day." The two of them grabbed their bentos and headed out the front door. Ryoko and Aeka followed. Aeka waved. "Good luck Sasami, Tenchi." Ryoko simply landed. "Have fun, you two." Sasami waved back "Don't worry, we will." Soon the two had walked out of view. Aeka dropped her hand to her side. "I hope she'll be alright," she whispered. Ryoko floated a couple feet off the ground. "Like I said, if you could handle it Sasami shouldn't have any problems. She's better then you in everything else already." "I've had about enough of your insults, you monster." "Too bad princess, because I've just started." "Why you!!!" ************************************ Two shadowy figures looked down upon the blue/white orb that we know as earth. One was tall, and obviously feminine. The other stood only slightly taller then the former's waist and looked decidedly uncomfortable. Finally the shorter figure shifted slightly and asked "Ne-san, are you sure this is a good idea?" The taller figure spun and kicked the smaller, hard, into a nearby wall. "Don't question my plans, Rumiya!" The young boy leveraged himself slightly off the floor. "I still don't understand why we're here Ramiya. Why not..." Ramiya stepped over to where her brother was. "We're here because Tsunami is here," she said emphasizing points by pushing Rumiya's face back onto the floor. "Our mission is too gain Tsunami's power, remember?" Rumiya covered up his head to prevent further emphasis. "Yes, I remember." ************************************** The principle, Hideo, greeted Sasami warmly when she arrived. Because this was her first time in a Japanese school, he insisted on showing her around the school. He also told her all the various school rules and regulations. *It's a good thing I read all those manga in the library. I already know most of this.* Hideo came to a stop in front of one of the classrooms. "This will be your room. 4-3. I'm sure you'll love it here, Haraguchi-sensei is a great teacher." Sasami bowed politely. "Arigato principle-sama." Hideo smiled, opened the door and waved her in. The entire class and the teacher turned to face her. The teacher, a middle aged woman with shoulder length hair, smiled and gave a slight bow to the principle, who returned it then left, then turned to Sasami. "Ohio Gozaimasu" She then turned and faced the rest of the class. "Mina-san, I'd like to introduce a new student. This is Masaki Sasami-chan. She'll be attending here from now on." Sasami turned to the class and did her best to seem polite without being too conservative. "Ohio Gozaimasu." Haraguchi-sensei continued. "Now I want all of you to make Sasami-chan feel comfortable here. The class began murmuring among themselves. A girl with her hair done up in two ponytails in the back leaned back in her chair and frowned. "Yeah, yeah, whatever." Up in the front a brown haired boy with a bandage on his nose, and the kid next to him who looked completely oblivious to everything, seemed to be appraising her. "I wonder if she's any good at sports," the brown haired kid said. His companion merely replied "She's cute." The brown haired kid sighed in disgust as if this were a common occurrence. This didn't keep Sasami from blushing slightly. As it was she was getting sort of nervous standing up there so long. *Is this class usually this strange?* she wondered. Sasami breathed a small sigh of relief when the teacher stepped forward. "We'll find you a place to sit later Sasami-chan. Right now well be going outside for PE lessons." The rest of the students stood up, with more or less enthusiasm. As they filed out Haraguchi-sensei walked over to Sasami. "I'll show your gym locker now. Oh, don't worry about your classmates. It's just we don't have many new students join us. They'll accept you in no time." Sasami followed along. Haraguchi-sensei seemed like a very nice person, and she was willing to bet most of her classmates would be too. It was just hard to keep from feeling nervous. After Haraguchi-sensei showed her to her locker she changed into her gym clothes. But as she finished putting on her shirt the girl behind her staggered. Sasami immediately turned around and caught the girl before she fell. Sasami saw she was obviously in pain. "What's wrong?" The girl set her face to hide her pain. "It's nothing. Just a little fever..." Sasami continued supporting her. "I'll take you to the nurse's office, then." The girl set her face into a smile and looked up at Sasami. "It's alright. I can make it myself. The rest of the class will be starting soon. You shouldn't be late on your first day." Sasami shook her head. "Someone should go with you. I'll be fine." The girl looked down and nodded in acceptance. "Arigato, Masaki-san." Sasami smiled. "Please call me Sasami-chan." She closed her eyes. "Arigato, Sasami-chan." Sasami helped the girl stand a little more and they began to walk to the nurse's office. "That's what friends do, right?" The girl looked back up at Sasami. "Friends?" Sasami met her glance. "Right. By the way, what's your name?" "Misao. Amano Misao." And this time Misao's smile didn't look forced. ********************************************* Washu turned away from the container where a pink gas was slowly churning. She stretched and looked at the clock on her mainframe. "Well, that should take a few hours to crystalize. Now for lunch!" Washu stood up and walked out of her lab, the crab door bell chiming as she left. She turned to see Ryoko, Aeka and Mihoshi watching soap operas, again. *When will those girls get a life? At least Kiyone keeps up her training.* She coughed lightly to get their attention. "Have you already eaten?" Aeka turned towards her with a bored expression. "No. Sasami hasn't...." Comprehension began to seep into Ryoko and Aeka's faces. Washu's eyes widened in surprise. "Sasami's not here?" Aeka stood up in shock. "She went to school! She's not here to cook!" Ryoko stood up as well. "There's no food!" Mihoshi finally grasped the situation and joined the other girls. "No food!?!?" Suddenly all the girls eyes focused on something past Washu. She turned to see Kiyone walking out of the kitchen with a cup of instant Ramen and chopsticks. Kiyone stopped when she realized she had become the center of attention. The three other girls surged forward as one. "Kiyone!!!!" In a single fluid movement Kiyone switched the cup to her left hand and drew her gun with the other. "Get your own." *********************************************** Kyoko filled in the last part of the form then readjusted her glasses. She then turned to the blue haired girl who had standing there patiently. "Will Misao-chan be ok?" Sasami asked. Kyoko smiled. "Yes, she'll be fine. All she needs is some rest. Thank you for helping her." Sasami looked relieved. "That's good." Kyoko went back to her paperwork. "You should probably head back. I'm sure the rest of the class is wondering where you two are." Sasami nodded. "Unn." Then she turned around and hurried out the door. Kyoko started looking over the medical data for the transfer students. *So that was Sasami. She seems to be a nice kid.* She began checking the various points in the medical file. Kyoko was skimming along when something odd caught her eye. *That's strange. What are the chances of that happening?* ************************************************ After that school seemed to pass quickly for Sasami. Though her athletic skills were fairly poor compared with the rest of the Masaki household, they were superb compared with the average 4th grader. Then came the lunch break, then math. As the person who managed the vast expenses of the Tenchi-tachi, she had no problems there. However, she was a little worried about tomorrow's history lessons. All she knew about Japanese history was from manga. Still, that was better then nothing. After school Tenchi picked her up and they walked home. The trees along the walk home were as beautiful as ever. Soon they reached the home that Tenchi's dad had built so many years back. Tenchi opened the door. "We're back!" Sasami peeked around him. "Hello everyone!" At that point both of them noticed the smoke coming from the kitchen. "Oh dear..." both of them said in unison. When they ran into the kitchen it became obvious what had occurred. The microwave was smoking, Kiyone was fuming and Mihoshi was crying. The rest of the girls turned to face Tenchi. Ryoko looked fairly worried. "It wasn't me! I swear!" At that point Kiyone finished her harangue. "Mihoshi, you are a curse!!!" Mihoshi merely continued to cry. "I'm sorry, Kiyone." The next thing Sasami knew she was being crushed by her sister's embrace. "Oh Sasami, it was so horrible. Please! We'll all starve if you leave us again!" Sasami pushed Aeka back enough to breath again. "But..." Washu, who was attempting to reconstruct the microwave without making her normal improvements, interrupted. "Don't bother with these fools. They were going to have to learn to cook sometime." Ryoko pointedly looked away. "Not my fault you didn't teach me, mom." Sasami sighed. "How about I make a real big dinner?" ******************************************** Misao woke up a little later then usual the next morning. She felt much better, though. She got up quickly. Her mother had probably already left for work. Her mom had taken some time off yesterday to pick her up from school, but she had gone right back afterwards. Misao quickly ate breakfast, then packed her bento. Then she left the apartment and locked the door behind her. Same as always. However today, about three minutes after she left, she heard someone behind her. "Misao-chan!!!" "Eh?" Misao turned and saw the girl who had helped her yesterday, Sasami, and a boy in a high school uniform behind her. Sasami was waving and running towards her. Misao waited until she had caught up. "Sasami-chan, right?" Sasami caught her breath, then looked up and smiled. "You remembered! Ah. Are you feeling better today?" Misao nodded shyly. "Unn." By that time the boy had caught up with them. He looked down at Sasami. "Is this a friend of yours, Sasami?" Sasami met his gaze. "Yes. We met yesterday, but she wasn't feeling good, so we couldn't talk much. The boy looked over at Misao. "Well, it's nice to meet you." Misao stared. Her heart beat furiously. She didn't understand it. It seemed as if he was surrounded by thousands of sparkles of light. *What is this I'm feeling?* Misao shook her head to clear it. The sparkles faded, and her heart returned to normal. *What was that?* The boy looked around. "Well, this is where we separate. I'll see you after school, Sasami-chan." Sasami waved. "Ja mata." Misao felt embarrassed asking, but she wanted to know. "Sasami, who was that with you?" Sasami almost seemed to think about her answer. "He's my... cousin Tenchi. My sister and I are staying at his house. Misao didn't want to pry any further. "I see." Sasami seemed to be lost in thought for a couple more seconds. Then she reverted to her normal smiling self. "That's right, today Haraguchi-sensei is going to give me a permanent seat." Misao wasn't about to let her new friend slip away. "Um... There's a seat next to me." Sasami looked over at her. "Really? That would be great." Misao just smiled shyly. ************************************** Sasami had been right to be worried, although admittedly the history questions weren't as hard as the few Misao had asked this morning. The class was apparently studying the Bakamatsu no Duran. She was very glad she had read Rurouni Kenshin. She hated lying to her new friend but what could she say? *Oh, he's the heir to the throne of Jurai, the most powerful planetary government in the universe. My sister is attempting to marry him. Oh, yes that's right, we're both royal princesses.* Even Tenchi had a hard time believing all that. It was probably best if she just pretended to be a normal earth child. Soon it was lunch break. The class all went out onto the school grounds. Sasami went with Misao to a quiet corner of the field. Sasami sat down with a sigh. "Everything went so fast today." Misao sat down and smiled at her. "You did fine, Sasami." Sasami looked down. "I hope I did." Then she noticed that Misao was looking down at her bag. "What is it?" "Sasami, why is your bag moving?" Misao said softly. Sasami noticed that the box was rocking slightly back and forth, and she had a good idea why. She reached in and pulled out a rather contrite looking cabbit by the ears. "Ryo-chan...." Ryo-oh-ki had the look of a kid caught in the cookie jar. "Myaa..." Misao studied the odd creature before her. "Neko?" Sasami summoned the best "voice of authority" she could muster. "Ryo-chan, you know you're not supposed to be at school." "Myaaa..." Misao couldn't contain her curiosity any longer. "Umm... Sasami-chan?" Sasami knew she was just going to have to hope Misao assumed it was an odd cat. She set Ryo-oh-ki down. "This is the family pet, Ryo-oh-ki. Ryo-oh-ki, this is my friend Misao." Ryo-oh-ki raised a paw in greeting. "Mya!" Misao gave a slight bow in return. "Hello, Ryo-oh-ki-chan." Sasami breathed another small sigh of relief. Misao obviously wasn't pushing the matter. Being a normal girl as going to be insanely difficult. Maybe she should look over those Mahou Shojo manga for some tips. At that point Misao was clapping as Ryo-oh-ki showed off one of her many tricks. Sasami focused on Ryo-oh-ki and told her, mentally, not to change into any other forms. Sasami was glad she had the ability to talk to ships mentally. It was one of the few good things that came out of that day long ago. By the time lunch ended the two friends were talking like any other two schoolgirls. After some more hours of classes Misao had almost completely forgotten about the few inconsistencies in Sasami's story. Sasami, however, was going to go over that manga anyway, just in case, *I've got to make sure I seem just like a normal kid.* It looked like that might be the hardest part of school for her. ******************************************************** End Chapter 1 Chapter 2: Families
