The Lloyd Thomas has a plaque dedicated to it and is displayed at the US Navy Memorial Center in Washington, DC. This page is for the crew members who have never visited the US Navy Memorial Center and, more importantly, gives crew members a chance to view the plaque that was dedicated to the Lloyd Thomas and now hangs at the memorial.

The first thumbnail is of crewmembers who were at the plaque ceremony. I do not have the names of the members in the picture or the date of the ceremony. If someone would like to ID the members I will be glad to post their names. The second picture is of CDR Paul L. Nuschke - Capt. of the LT from June 3, 1960 to December 9, 1961.
(sorry about the reflections)

The following pictures are for members who never visited the Navy Memorial. They will give you an idea (and that's all it will be) of what the place is like. If you get the chance, stop by and check the place out. I will even go so far as to recommend the fast food restaurant located in the opposite building - they make and grill sandwiches as you order them at the counter. Also during the week they have a hot/cold buffee table, fresh pizza's and make your own ice cream dessert setup. Great place for a quick lunch break.
Note on the long shot of the memorial that the world is represented in the center - this is difficult to see when viewing it from the ground. This is the section were the Navy band and drill team performs. Schedules are listed on the memorials web site.

The picture on the right is what greets you as you enter the Navy Memorial. On your far left (out of the frame) is a welcome/information desk, and a statue of a returning sailor w/wife and child. On your right is thick glass representing the ocean with all types of ships etched into the glass. At the bottom of the staircase if you were to make a left and go down the short hallway you will come to a room that displays all the plaques that are dedicated to their respective ships or services.
Surrounding the view of the world are sculptures that represent the many factors that make up the US Navy and Marine Corp. They represent the Navy from the old to the new. The relief artwork is very impressive.
