This site is open to everyone and especially welcomes anyone who has served on board the Lloyd Thomas.

The initial purpose for this site was to cover the years of service for the LT from 1959 to 1961 - the years I served on board. The site is presently migrating towards a general site with a concentration of information concerning the years 1959 to 1961. This site is open to all crew members of the LT. Feel free to send in items that you would like to see posted on this site regardless of when you served on board the Thomas. I have visited several sites that have covered the LT and although most are interesting, I find they lack specific information or, in some cases, contain misinformation concerning the years that I served.

Another reason for this site is that I happen to be near College Park, MD, a while back where a section of the national archives are located. I spent some time in the facility. In this facility they have the muster and deck logs for ships. I will not get into what the facility stores for research but I will say the facility, staff, and lunchroom were great and I have nothing but great things to say about the place. I have obtained copies of the crew muster rolls for most years from 1947 to 1961 and have been in the process of preparing to post this information to the web site. When I finish, this site will have the most comprehensive crew listing for the Lloyd Thomas on the World Wide Web.

I am also in the process of adding cruise books. When completed, three of the cruise books will have crew members pictures attached to the crew members names along with pictures of the places visited.

Why, you may ask, put up a web site in the first place. Well... as we become older our memories become very important to us, otherwise, why even look at these sites except to bring back (mostly good) memories. Why go to a reunion except to visit old friends and tell stories of your life aboard the LT. This web site has to do with memories, sometimes wishing to be young again (and probably make the same mistakes all over again). Simply put, I put up this site in the name of nostalgia. Please feel welcome to make suggestions for this site, add new information, correct posted information, or just say hello.
