Tyrone Williams was born in Detroit Michigan where he attended Wayne State University.

The teachers he recalls: Chris Johnson, History, Michael Giordano, French, and the following English teachers--Eddie Hirsch, Charlie Baxter (both of whom directed his dissertation), Dan Cottom, Alvin Aubert, Stephen Chennault, Jeanne Flood, Stephen Tudor, Bob Burgoyne, Phillip Traci, Henry Golemba, Michael Scrivener, Ross Pudaloff, Arthur Marotti and Dennis Turner.
