Lavender Rice
Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
1tbs lavender
1/4 cup oil
½ chopped onion
2 cups of Basmati Rice soaked overnight or 8 hours. Drain.
Procedure:
Melt butter in a pan add lavender.
Stir about 1 minute add onion and cook until onion is translucent. Remove from heat.
Add drained rice to pot or rice cooker.
Add water by holding index finger on top of the rice.
Fill water to just above the joint line on your finger. Add onion lavender mix.
Add ¼ cup oil. Stir.
Turn on rice cooker following cooker directions. If using a pot, bring mixture to a boil. Reduce to simmer and cook with lid on until rice is tender about 12 -15 minutes.
Remove from heat put a dish towel over the pot and put the lid back on. Do this is you are using the rice cooker. Rise will develop a nice brown crust.
Let rice sit 15 minutes.
Invert the pan over a serving platter. Using a spatula remove the crust and place around the serving platter.
This is a perfect accompaniment to Smoked Lavender Chicken
