Because, without realizing it, we teach Math only to students who think a particular way. The same way Math teachers
think and Math book authors think. From a bottom-up perspective.
Incredibly, we simply give up on all others - nearly half the student population! - because we say they "don't have the
knack".
Most people who have been shuttled off to live their lives without Math simply gave up on themselves, too. I know, I
was one of them. But I was just a little more stubborn than the average bear.

I was a Math-disaster and it crushed my dreams. All I wanted was to be a Scientist. But after my Sophomore year in college,
I dropped out. I was failing in every subject that required Math.
A few years passed, but I never lost my determination to live my dream. Only my Math-block stood in my way.
When the answer came, it was completely unexpected, a change in my point of view that I didn't see coming. When
I grasped this new perspective, everything about numbers started to make sense. I could sit down, read a textbook, and understand
the concepts quickly and easily. Best of all, Math suddenly became fun! I returned to school and earned my Physics degree
- with a 3.9 average. I aced all seven advanced Math courses, as well as the Math-laden Physics classes.
