OBJECTIVE

I seek the opportunity to utilize my unique conceptual and creative skills in a professional, quality-oriented environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

I can offer your company a wide range range of creative talents, including first-class graphic design, creative writing, and marketing skills. I am imaginative, inventive and dedicated to excellence, as well as an experienced problem solver. You may count on me to be educated, assertive, and reliable, with a resilient sense of humor, and I am always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty for quality's sake.

GENERAL SKILLS

I pride myself on my strong and demanding conceptual sense. Graphic, logo, and multimedia design are all specialty areas, as are illustration, creative, feature, and copy writing, and numerous others. In my time spent working in the advertising industry, I have contributed in just about every creative area imaginable .

COMPUTER SKILLS

I have ten years of experience using Adobe Photoshop, and am conversant in Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXPress and Macromedia Fireworks as well. I am fluent in Mac OS from System 7.5 through OS X 10.4, and will humbly submit that I can troubleshoot any Mac on the planet. I also gained some enlightening experience creating graphics on Windows platforms in 2001.

EXPERIENCE

• Gun For Hire
Graphic Artist/Computer Technician (1993-Present)

I have proven myself to be at my best when I am challenged. Many of the projects I have taken on in recent years have been very fast, low-budget affairs which required great ingenuity and resourcefulness. Among other things, I helped design two full promotional campaigns for the City of Ft. Worth's recycling campaign with 7 days and zero budget at my disposal, a full-color print campaign for Canon of Japan using little more than stock photos, and co-wrote and designed a promotional CD-ROM for Nissan of Japan. Conceptualized, designed, and illustrated an acclaimed series of ads for Japan's Asahi Shimbun morning newspaper. These ads contributed to an almost 40% increase in ad revenues for the client, and ran in trade publications all across the world.

• The Desert Trail
Reporter/Photographer (2003-2006)

An interesting experience, owing to my complete and utter lack of journalistic training. As one-half of the Trail editorial team, I contributed 2-6 original news stories per weekly issue (both news and features) along with miscellaneous press release and transcription duties. I was also responsible for many of the photographs which appeared in the newspaper, including local news coverage, sporting events, and miscellaneous feature photography. In addition, I personally proofread and corrected each issue from front to back, which included layout corrections and tightening in addition to spell-checking and editing duties.

• Universal Systems & Technology, Inc.
Graphic Artist
/Animator (2000-2001)

Developed concepts and finished artwork for the United States Marine Corps. My work focused on the use of Photoshop, Flash, and other tools to produce animations and still images for interactive multimedia instructional courses.

• Intelephones Inc.
Install Technician
(1992-1993)

Installed and and serviced networked phone systems. This job taught me a new definition of sweating the details.

• Scott Land Marionettes
Sculptor (1987-1991)

Sculpted puppet heads and bodies for Mr. Land. A nonexistent budget and a quality-oriented client proved to be very good learning tools.

• Doyle and Partners Advertising, Inc
Graphic Artist (1981-1991)

I had a hand in all aspects of the art department here, including production of layouts, storyboards, and finished art, paste-ups, and conceptualization. A software pamphlet for Island Pacific Co. which I co-conceptualized, designed, and illustrated won an Orange County Advertising Federation Gold Award in 1988.

EDUCATION

• Art Institute of Seattle (1991-1993)

Studies included: model and diorama construction, product, toy and automotive design, airbrush and sculpture.

• Saddleback College (1984-1985)

Studies included: sculpture, graphic design, TV production and filmmaking/editing.

• Ad Center/Orange County (1982-1983)

ACTIVITIES

I have been involved with my local community theater since early 2003, working in a number of capacities including acting, sound design, set construction, and stage tech. In my personal time I enjoy working with my hands, writing and reading, singing and music production, modelmaking, sculpture and computer gaming.
