Issue V
Welcome to our fifth issue of Haikusun.
This month, we found our inspiration in Paul Cooper's photo 'Merging' (our cover photo). We feel that this piece speaks of the grace with which the ancient Asian arts can be adapted and cherished in contemporary times. Please enjoy more of Paul's poetry and photos throughout the issue, along with the work of Rob Mestre, owner of the successful new publication 'Simply Haiku'. Rob is a man who knows his 'ku' and we are honored to share his work with our readers.
Enjoy!

The afternoon breeze
passes by the upper gate-
petals scatter.

April Fools Day-
I remove my foot
from the puddle
frog song-
the news predicts
coming rain
butterfly-
thinks my nose a
flower
melting frost-
this window nature's
etchosketch
tornado warning-
heart beats with the
falling rain
natures bartender-
spring garden aroma
on a breeze
frozen raindrops-
through my skylight
a thousand moons
Robert John Mestre has been composing poetry for 21 years

Birds at my window
sing to the new breaking day,
as the sky lightens-
the dark clouds begin to part
and drift off in the soft breeze.

Sunday Morning Walking:
Morning walk,
waterfall's rushing
breaks the silence.
Morning walk,
joggers footsteps
on gravel.
Morning walk;
silhouettes of geese
cut the sun in half.
Morning walk,
daisies through the fence,
spreading out.
Morning walk,
between parting clouds;
the daytime moon.
Morning walk,
wafting on the breeze;
honeysuckle.
Morning walk,
dangling from branches,
cobwebs!
