Schar Freeman

Guava tint edges 
lavender clouds in a heap -
great star shows new face

~

Interlocked with hope
fragrance and beauty become
garden sentinels

Coco palm shadows
cross sand, stretch to turquoise sea
fingers from the sun

Butterfly breeze
island springtime treasure
white cocoon clouds

Sliver of moon, orange
on ebony horizon -
Cheshire cat grins

Schar Freeman, aka ScharCbear, is a mother of 4 sons,
wife, Native American poet and visual artist residing
in the heart of the Pacific Ocean on the island of
Kaua’i.  

Schar’s poetry, photography and artworks have been
published with Ladybug Press (1996) Women on a Wire,
Vol I and (2002) Women on a Wire, Vol. II.; Mother
Tongue Ink, We’Moon 1989, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001,
2002.   Poetry published with Lummox Press (1999)
Maytag Heights.  She has also been published in many
E-Zines since 1996 and most recently in Baroque Review
Magazine,2 Moon Quarterly and Le Zine Poetique.

To round out her creative life, Schar is the current
Board of Directors President of the Kauai Powwow
Council and Founder and Director of the Hawaiian Monk
Seal Coalition. She is a Board Representative for
NPAC. She also studies and performs ancient and modern
hula with Hula Halau O’Leilani.

R. D. McManes Born December 24th 1953 in McAlester Ok
Author of five volumes of poetry, “Reflections in a
Poets Mirror”, "Love from a Poetic Point of View”, 
“Poetic Sighs”, "Don’t Read Me Like Some Poem" and “We
Ain’t in Kansas No More”. I have been published by

giant sunflower faces
gaze down in wonder, so small
faces that gaze back up

the new moon waxing
in the indigo night sky
seems like a shy child

sweet cherry blossoms
pink scent in the afternoon air

a soft song on sand
ocean waves wash on the shore
starfish on the beach
Rhiannon/ WiseHeron has recently left the security of a city 
she lived in for 35 years to live a grand adventure in the 
Adirondack mountains. The two environments couldn't be 
more diverse. She is inspired by her muses to write, make pottery, 
crochet intricate textile arts, and is considering learning watercolor painting.

A lover's breathing

John L. Vogel is a professional librarian in Washington DC. In the past three years, 
he's managed to somehow get himself sent to Switzerland, India, and Colorado, 
all in the line of duty. He has perfected the art of disciplinary haiku with the help of his daughter.
