A little done
Well, I spent a bit of time at the gym this week (okay, after today I will have been there 5 out of 7 days - but twice it
was for pilates!!), so I haven't been sitting at home quite as much. Not to mention that one of the days we didn't go (my
husband and I), we went to TGIF's and had some good food (and good martinis!). Anyhow, I have been working some more on that
scrap blanket though. A few squares here and there and I have just two small hanks of yarn left to work into squares. Then
I need to connect them. So today (after pilates and coffee) I am going to head to the yarn store and get enough black yarn
to start putting them together!!
Oh yeah, and my running is back up again. I did just over five miles yesterday. My daughter and I are talking about that half
marathon near the end of the year, and maybe the 10k in July if it's not full. But, we'll see. In the meantime, it just feels
good to be getting my long runs back up a little bit!

Sick again
Yes, I was sick again. But at least this time it was just a head cold. I say just a head cold, but what I mean is that there
was no infection and I wasn't tired. But, I couldn't get out of bed without going through a box of kleenex and coughing non-stop.
So, I stayed three days in bed. . . and I read three books! The first one was "The Book Thief." It made my cry (but
I really liked the book), so I had to pick a lighter one next, and then a Dean Koontz book! Saturday was the first day I could
get up and about, and I took it to do a bunch of errands. But Sunday I was back at the gym and running. And since my daughter
and I may do a women's half marathon in October (maybe. . . ), I've decided to get a bit more serious about my weekend running
and start building back up to 6 miles again and then see from there. I was able to do 4.73 this weekend, so I'm not too far
off!
Also, I finished the squares for my leftover yarn afghan. And it was way too small!! So, I used up the rest of my yarn, added
two more rows, and it's still a bit small. So now my friend gave me her leftover yarn, and I'm working on those to add to
it! I think with the two bags I have from her I should be able to make an afghan of a decent size (and warmth). The only thing
I need to finish it up is a couple of hanks of black yarn to sew the new squares together and then edge the whole blanket.
And, I've worked a bit on my sweater too. But I've been having fun with the blanket so it's been mostly that that I've worked
on!

New Year
I believe this is my first post of the new year. I guess I should have checked before I started posting! Oh well. :-)
So far the fist week of the year has been pretty good. My husband joined the gym so we've been going to that. I've been able
to run at least three times a week. And I've been able to work on my scrap yarn afghan while watching the playoff! Oh yeah,
and I've even been able to read a bit as well. Work is gearing up as it usually does this time of year, but that's okay. We
don't work over time and we're not expected to take work home with us. So, it's not bad! Now to hope the rest of the year
continues like this!
