Yet another quick update
I did quite a bit of knitting lately. Finished some socks for my Dad's birthday (and bought more yarn to make them in the
nicer yarn). Finished a scarf for my cousin who just found out she has cancer (pictures to come soon). Made a lot of progress
on my self-striping scarf (it needs to be longer than I originally thought). And I purchased some yarn to make my friend's
birthday scarf (I hope the yarn comes in at least one week before her birthday, or I'll be speed knitting again)!! After I
finish that, I'm going to look at my holiday knitting. I know I want to make a scarf/sock gift for both of my Grandmothers,
but after that I'm not sure what I'm going to make and if I'll have time!

Sock
I didn't get a chance to do too much on my other projects, but Friday night I started a pair of socks for my Dad's birthday
celebration on Saturday! Why last minute. . .because I planned poorly is the bottom line. I was going to get something else
from him, didn't check into it until the last minute, and found it wasn't something he really would want. So, when I asked
what he would want, I was told socks! So, I bought some new yarn Friday morning on the way to my eye doctor's (just need to
update my contact prescription), and I tried some new yarn that felt soft. Well, once knit up, it's not as soft and stretchy
as other yarns I've used. I was able to finish one Friday night and I'm working on the other one today (I gave it to him half
done and took the one sock back!), and I should finish it. But I think I'll go get some Woolease next week and make a second
pair that's a bit softer. :-/

Mid-week update
I was able to work on my scarf during the Monday night football game. . . and I got a lot done! I still haven't decided on
a fun project yet, and I probably won't for a couple of weeks now since this weekend I'm headed to Santa Barbara for my niece's
wedding!! But, I should get some reading done. Speaking of which, I finally picked up a regular book and started it. I am
still in the middle of Aesop's Fables, but since it's approximately 250 really short stories, it's not a book that holds your
interest for a long time, but rather a book that's great to bring along in your car for short reads here and there. Then I
was doing those Su Doku puzzles that are so much fun. . . but then while getting a pedicure (you know, nice toes for the upcoming
wedding), I started "A Good Yarn" which is the second book in a series. I thought it might be too much of a fluff
book, so I was putting off reading it until I was in the mood, but I want to loan it to my Mom, so I decided to read it now.
I'm glad I did. I got right into the book and I'm enjoying it. I think this book will be done by this week (if I can find
time between the running, gym, work, errands. . . ) and I'll need to find a new one to bring up to the wedding. That shouldn't
be too hard to do though since I have a small bookcase full of books that I'd like to read, someday, when the mood hits for
a particular book. . .!!!

Sunday, Sunday
Not much to post. . .
I've worked a little on my knitting, but not much. It still seems they are football projects (so I should get some done today),
but I haven't found a fun project to put on my needles.
I've been reading just a bit, but not too much. Mostly I've been playing that numbers games. . . I forget the name, but it
consists of 9 squares that have 9 smaller squares, and there are some numbers already put in. Then you have to fill in the
rest so that no number repeats either in the small square or the rows across and down.
But I have been running!
Oh well, it's football time. . .!!!

Sunday Evening
So, it's Sunday evening and I'm sitting here watching my team lose (even though the defense is doing really well) and
knitting. . . but I did take a break to do my hair. Okay, well my husband put the dye on the roots for me (wasn't that
nice!!) and then I put it on the rest. And it's going to be kind of odd because I want to go back to the lighter color, but
I know there will be a slight difference between the roots and the rest, but at least it's not gray! Anyhow, I am getting
off my point. I was able to do some knitting today. I worked quite a bit on the sock scarf (in between the kittens wanting
to come play with the yarn and sleeping), and I did a bit on my shell as well. As I said before, they are both good for working
on while watching football, but not too interesting on their own. So, to that end I ended up reading more yesterday than knitting,
but it was nice. So, all in all I had a good, productive weekend. It's just too bad about the 49ers!
