Mid week update
Things are going along pretty good. The internet was down at my house on Saturday, but back up by Sunday. The heat was getting worse as the days went on, but seemed to break this morning and it was nice and cool outside when I did my run. I've managed to do some more afghan squares - and now that I'm at 100 squares I've started crocheting some together. I've made some good progress on my scarf. . . but I haven't started that new project yet!! I've also made some good progress on my books. I finished a couple over the weekend and now I've started on "A Year of Wonders" which is a book about the plague. Kind of sad, but so far well written. I'm about a third of the way through. But, we're starting back at the gym tonight (it's been closed a while) so I'm not sure how much time I'll have today. I should have a decent amount of time this weekend though - and I really hope I start that project!!

Some progress
Okay, so I did finish the poncho - Yeah!! Pictures to come fairly soon. But I didn't make too much progress on anything else. I was trying hard to finish the book "Fast Food Nation." I did, and it was informative, but a really dry read. In the meantime, I picked up "The Historian" and I really wanted to finish it! And I did, late last night. All in all it was a pretty interesting book. I picked up "The Undomestic Goddess," but it just seems rather fluffy after the other reads. Anyhow, I plan to work a bit more on the afghan squares and maybe a few more inches on that scarf! I've also (finally) put aside a bit of money for that jacket I want to do. Only $20, but I'm that much closer to getting it. $20 here, $20 there doesn't seem to bad at the time, and it will slowly add up!

A little progress
Okay, so I didn't make too much progress from last week. And most frustrating, I didn't put aside the $$ for the yarn I really want. So, that will have to wait to start until next week's paycheck - but I guess that's okay. But I was able to finish knitting the two sides of the poncho, and I'm sitting here now getting ready to put it together and knit the collar - while listening to my new podcast downloads :-) It was getting a bit loud in my house, so I found some old headphones and I'm plugged in a feeling happy!! Once I finish the poncho, I plan to do just a little more on the scarf. Then I'm going to sit down and start my new book "The Historian." Okay, I actually started it last night, but for 30 minutes I read the same page over and over while fighting sleep and it just didn't work. So, I'll start it this afternoon!

Pictures!!
I did it! I took my pictures and posted them here! And, while posting the pictures, I noticed that I had not made any progress on my left-over yarn afghan in a long time. So, I pulled that out, counted my squares, crocheted 4 more squares, recounted what I had, and ended up with the same count of 65 that I had posted! So, I made one more just so I could up that count. Plus, I'm going to work on a few more and maybe start crochetinng some of the square together. Yes, that sounds like a good idea. . . so I think a trip to buy some more yarn is in order this afternoon! Yes, I did make a little bit of progress on my lacy scarf (but that one will take a while because it's 32 inches of ribbing, then you pick up stitches to put on the lace), and I made some decent progress in the poncho as well! As soon as I finish that, I think I'll cast-on for the sock yarn scarf I was talking about. And I do need to find that pattern I was going to make that pink sweater with. . . and considering that I put all of my patterns away on the shelf, I may just need to find another pattern! Oh, speaking of patterns, there is a jacket I really want to knit in the lastest Vogue Knitting magazine. Yes, it's the one on the front cover! It's a bit too expensive for the yarn for me right now though. So either I find a really good substitute (and it has to be really good), or I start putting aside $30 from each paycheck and make the jacket in a few months. I'm not sure which I'll do, but I'll start putting that money aside now just in case!!

Oh, and we have our air conditioner back working!! And I'm back to running fairly fine (four times a week, 7.15 miles being my long run).

And, the kittens are doing really well. If I just sit in the room with them, they'll come walk around me and play around me. . .and even fall asleep on my lap!

New family addition
Okay, I'm posting to my blog so I can put up the new picture of my girls' kittens. . . and I noticed I haven't taken the time to update my crafts pictures! So, I promise this week not only will I update the current pictures, I will take some pictures of the yarn I have for my upcoming projects and post that as well! Especially since I seem to be making some good progress and it will encourage me to continue on! And to that note, I finished my cross-stitch yesterday (well, the cross-stitch part. I went to put on the little charms and such, and couldn't find them :-/ So now I have to go out and buy some this weekend. .  and maybe a little frame while I'm at it!) And, I finished the quilting on my vest quilt! I need to pull out my sewing machine this weekend and sew down the edge - that's it! I didn't do too much on the poncho though, because I was spending time with the new kittens!! My girls' got them Monday night, and they are just so cute! This one here:
Kato
is Kato. She belongs to my youngest daughter. And this one:
Bailey
is Bailey and she belongs to my oldester daughter!

They are just too cute and fun to play with. But, my husband allowed the girls to get these kittens under the rule that they are theirs to take care of and pay for! So far so good. . . And my husband told me he wants the girls to bond with the kittens so that when they leave the cats will go with them - but I just can't help sitting down with them and playing with them!!

Oh well. I guess I should also post that my air conditioner is still not fixed. Almost, but not quite. It should be done by today (I hope, I hope) though. And I've decided to put aside 1 hour every night to clean junk out of my house. That means I will be filling my husband's van with things to take to Goodwill, but that's okay. I think if I do that, by next week the junk should be gone and I can start organizing again. But that also means that I may not get to my crafts as much as I would like untiil next week. But, Istill promise to post some new pictures before then!

Over half done!
I was having so much fun working on crafts this weekend, that I got a lot accomplished! I finished the first half of the poncho, and almost one-fourth of the second half! I have almost finished my cross-stitch angle (and when I do, I am seriously thinking about starting that big, year long cross-stitch project that I've had for over 5 years in my closet. . .). And I almost finished quilting that little vest quilt. I just have one-half of a hanger to go, and then sew the edge down! And, I'm ready to start a new scarf that I saw a sample of while down in San Diego. They took the self-striping sock yarn and made a long, skinny scarf! It looked so cute. . . and I have a few skeins of that kind of yarn just lying around (and drawers full of already made socks). I still want to start a project with that pink yarn as well. And, maybe do a few more squares of that left-over yarn blanket. Yes, I think I will pull that out tomorrow as well when I'm home while the technicians are working on my air conditioner (yet again - this time I hope is the last since they are installing a new unit). . . and if I can finish up two projects, and start two new ones, then I'll be happy!!

Problem fixed!
So I started working on a poncho for my niece for her birthday/Christmas (I haven't decided for which one yet), when I found in a 20 row repeat there was a problem. The repeat has a couple of yo's that go in a diaganol across the material. . . well, at row 17 it didn't line up right. But if I changed it to line up, then at row 1 it didn't line up right. So, I got on line with Creative Knitting to see if there is a correction posted. It's the new September magazine, so there wasn't anything on their site about it. But, I didn't give up. I went to the contact link and sent an email to the patterns person. By the next day I had received two emails from her. The first saying that she would check into it - and the second saying that there is a line missing from the pattern and it's really a 22 row repeat! So, with the missing information emailed to me, I was able to continue on fine with the poncho! I'm so proud of myself :-) I know, silly things. . . but hey, it keeps me happy!!
