Mid Week
I think it's been almost one week since I've posted! A lot has happened, not all good. On the saddest side, a girl my daughter was friends with a few years ago killed herself. Memorial service was this week. . .open casket. . . enough said about that.

On the good side, my oldest started regular college classes this week! When I asked her Monday night how her first day went, she said it went surprisingly well! And the end of this week she gets to travel with her college soccer team to Santa Barbara to play. How fun! I wish I could go see that game, but it's really busy at work and I am helping to cover for a sick co-worker these next few weeks. After that I'll have more time and get to go see her play.

Knitting has been coming along well. I am in the middle of those two afghans, and I started the baby sweater for my niece. Then yesterday I was invited to a surprise baby shower for an old high school friend this weekend. So, knowing she is going to have a boy, off to the store to get blue baby yarn and I cast that on last night as well. But after getting home, making dinner, and working on the computer, I didn't have much time to knit and/or read. So, I have a lot to do these next few evenings!

Mid Week
Well, not much to tell. I finished the poncho (or did I post that already), and I finished another baby hat. I'm working now on two afghans. One in fall colors like my older daughter asked, the other in rainbow colors just because I felt like it! I will be starting another baby sweater this week though. Especially since I just found out a friend/business associate of my husband is expecting another baby. I just hope this one is not due in February like all of the others!

Friday the 13th
What a yucky day! I would say that I'm not superstitious, but I guess sometimes I am. I took my daughter to the dentist this morning and she had 4 cavaties. Now she usually has one or two, but 4?! At least they will be filled in a couple of weeks. In the mean time, I'm going to buy her a mouth rinse to use when she brushes her teeth. Last time I did that it helped. . .so I'm not sure why I stopped buying it!

As for knitting, I finished one outfit for a baby. A cute little sweater and hat combination. I just need to get a few buttons for it (I'm usually pretty bad about that). Then, I finished two hats for a premie baby (that I forgot to bring in the office. . . but that's another long story!). And, I'm about 30% done with another baby hat that I wanted to try just because the pattern is cute! It's a lace pattern that you knit on it's own, sew the edges together, then pick up stitches around the edge to make the crown. Once I finish that I have another cute baby sweater pattern I want to try. I'm going to start this one for my niece though since she's the first person I'll be giving the gifts to and I want to make a matching blanket as well!

I did work on the poncho, and finished it. . .or so I thought. It just ended up way too small. So, I crocheted on a couple rows of hdc's to see if that would work, and the addition looks nice. So, I need to go buy some more yarn, and then I'll finish edging it until it's a nice length for my daughter. I have time, considering she can't wear it in this heat and it's still up over 90 degrees today. . .

Quick Update
I seem to be in a knitting mood again! Last night instead of picking up a new book, I just wanted to work on that baby sweater. It is worked in parts up until the shoulder, and then all pieces are put together and decreases are done on the whole. Well, I finished all of the pieces to the shoulder, then realized I didn't want to put it together last night since I was somewhat sleepy! So, all of the pieces are ready and tonight I will put them together and hopefully finish the should section. Then I can work on the neckband and then start a hat! Also, my boss' daughter just delivered her baby premature this week (2.5 lbs), so I'd like to make a hat/sweter this weekend. I surfed the web last night looking for some premie patterns and found some really cute ones. Now all I have to do is get some soft pink yarn and I think I can have something done before Monday! Oh yeah, I've also done a lot on Dee's poncho and I'm anxious to start another sweater!

I finished it!
I finished my cabled shell!! I like the looks of it, but didn't realize how warm it would be to wear :-/ So, it's done and ready for when the weather cools down just a bit. I had to order the needles to finish the collar, and I was going to order yarn for my beaded shell at the same time. . . but I really want to buy that in person. Feel the yarn and pick something, then take it to the bead store and get matching beads the same day. Some day I will get to start on that shell. . . in the meantime. . .

I've been working on Dee's poncho. It's made of two large rectangles sewn together. I finished the first one, and have already started on the second one. Then, I found out that not just my one co-worker is pregnant, but another one and a wife of one. . .all due within a couple of weeks of each other! Then, I found out my niece is pregnant and due in that same time period! That's a lot of little sweaters to make. I decided to make a sweater and hat for each co-worker, and for my niece a sweater, hat and matching blanket! And, I just found out yesterday that my niece is coming down in November - so I need to have hers done by then! I think it should be fine though. I've started on a set for a coworker, and I may even do one more of those before I start my niece's. I want to make sure I have a pattern I really like before transferring it to a matching blanket - so I'm testing out some with just the sweater/hat combos!

Oh well. . .back to knitting. . .!
