Finally a Friday
Well, not much to post here that is better or up beat :-/ I'm on top of my homework (even if it did take me 1 1/2 hours last
night just to type in my outline), and I'm up on my running (up to 2.1 miles with just one stop!), and I finished a book that
I was reading during breaks at class. . .oh and I did finish that scarf I was working on - but it is the ugliest thing I think
I've ever made! Not only that, but I cast-on the proper amount to be a certain length, and this darned thing grew! If I put
it around my neck it hits the floor! So I'm not going to take pictures of this thing. Maybe I'll take a picture of my shawl
as a work in progress. That is still looking nice. It's just that I'm at the point where it doesn't grow as fast because the
rows take longer to do. But I'm still working on it!
So, I'm going to take a big breath and push on! I will start my Dad's vest this weekend, maybe I'll pick up a good book -
or not - I won't push myself since I'm ahead of my reading schedule - and I will either take a nice hike or maybe do some
more running and have a nice weekend!

What a Day!
My morning started with a phone call from my older daughter asking me to come quickly to the school because my youngest shut
her finger in the car door and it won't stop bleeding. To top it off, the school office wouldn't open up to let them in (just
10 minutes before school started). Yes, I've already tried calling the school, but the phone just rings and rings (I think
it was during their lunch hour). I will try again, because that is just not right. As for my daughter, a few hours later,
x-rays and such - not only did she break her finger, but she ripped off the nail and some skin. She required stitches and
some antibiotics. What a morning. At least I had my knitting with me to keep my hands busy! Past that, I'm not thinking about
much else today. I will do a knitting/reading/running post probably tomorrow. . .I may even have a picture of my scarf by
then. . .

A bit of the sniffles
Tuesday was not the best of days. Not only am I fairly sure I didn't do well on the test (but I am fairly sure I passed it,
just not as high as I would have liked for all of the studying I did!), but in the middle of class my head and throat started
to hurt any my nose started to run :-( Luckily we got out of class early and I ran to Trader Joe's and bought some zinc/vitamin
C tablets. I started taking those right away that night. Yesterday I still felt stuffed up, but no body aches - so that was
good. I continued on with my zinc/vitamin C and decided I still wanted to run last night. I increased my mileage to 1.7 miles,
and with the increase and my head cold I had to walk a couple of times. Oh yeah. . .going back to Monday night. . . I ran
the 1.2 miles without stopping!! YEAH!!! So, last night could be seen as a set back on one point (walking before the 1.2 mile
point), but I see it as a positive point because not only did I increase my distance, I did it while not feeling good! And
my time per mile did not increase either! So, on that point I'm pretty happy. Today I still feel less than wonderful, but
better than yesterday. I hope to ride my bike a bit with my daughter, and then hopefully go on a run/walk with a friend on
mine tonight. I still have homework, and as much as I'm tired of it, I'm still pushing myself to do it so I end this year
decently. So I will get an hour in some time today/tonight, even if I stay up a bit late, or do some while cooking dinner.
I'll figure it out. I'm just glad it's almost over and I'm getting a break because it's getting harder and harder to push
myself! Although, once I do take the break I hope to get back into an adult program and finish my next degree going once a
week for a little over one year. After these last 3-4 years, that looks real doable!!
Also, I'm still making good progress on my shawl!! I worked on that for a while, and I worked on my scarf, and I almost started
on some new socks - then I remembered the yarn on order for the vest. I don't want to start too many projects - yet. I can
have multiple projects as soon as class is over. For now, I'll keep it on the few I'm really interested in!
That's it for today. . .

Yet another Monday. . .
What a busy weekend! It wasn't supposed to be, but things happen. A bathroom remodeling job got out of hand and ended up causing
my husband more repair work (and me more cleaning work). That took up a bit of extra time. But, things happen! So, to update
where I am at now. . .
Homework is still coming along fine. It's not easy to get going on the work each day, but once I do I get into it. I've found
almost all the articles I can on my project and I'm almost done with my notecards. If I finish this speech early I am going
to treat myself to something special!
Reading, well, that's kind of on the back burner right now. I still belong to the 52 books a year group, but I'm up over 20
books right now so I don't feel too bad. I figure once school is over I'll enjoy reading for fun and not for school and I'll
get right back on track. Not to mention the time I plan on reading at the beach this year!
Knitting is going great! I've made some good progress on my shawl, and I've ordered the yarn for my Dad's vest!! That should
come in some time next week and I plan on starting that right away. I thought with all of my homework I wouldn't be knitting
as much, but I forget how relaxing and stress relieving it is. So I actually may end up getting a lot more done that I first
thought!
And running - that is going well too. I ran 1.2 miles again yesterday (with my husband, who pushed himself too much while
running with me and I felt bad that he was so exhuasted), and I felt great after the run! Especially since I almost didn't
go out, but pushed myself when we got home Sunday afternoon. I plan on running the same 1.2 course again today, and then increasing
my run by .5 on Wednesday. I'm sure I will be walking more on that run, but I won't beat myself up over it. I will continue
with the 1.7 run until I feel like I did yesterday after the run, really good!

Thursday, Thursday, Thursday
So, I'm not very creative with my titles! Oh well. Lets see, just past midweek and it seems like a lot has happened! My youngest
passed her driving test yesterday - Yeah! Now it's up to her and her Dad to get her car in running order. I think that's going
to take a while, so she'll probably be borrowing my car. But not until she's comfortable driving a stick shift. So, I'll be
taking her out this weekend.
Lets see, on the school front, I picked up my cap and gown this week!! Yeah!! It's still in the bag though. I suppose I should
at least hang it up. I know I'll have to iron it, and I just don't feel like doing that right now! I have my last few assignments
from school, and it's a lot. I've set aside 1 hour each day to do homework, that way it won't all hit me at the end.
On the knitting front, I haven't done too much. A little on the shawl, nothing on the scarf, and a bit of crocheting on the
misc. afghan squares. But, on the up side I did find the vest pattern I am going to do for my Dad, and I've picked out the
yarn. So now it's a matter of getting the yarn ordered and getting started. I still expect that to happen some time next week.
In the mean time, maybe I'll at least finish the scarf. If I don't, I may end up starting a new pair of socks or something!
On the book front, I'm slowly down a bit with reading since I have so much homework. But I do keep my reading page updated.
And on a new front, I've decided to run a 5k this summer! I used to run them a few years ago, then I had trouble with my back
and never got back to it. My oldest wants to run with me, so now I'm encouraged. I've set aside a training schedule to be
able to do a race in mid-May. So far last night I ran 1.2 miles (okay, I walked a little, but not much!). I plan on increasing
it by .5 mile every week and that should just about get me there. Now I just hope I stick to it!
Thats about it so far for this week!

Friday Five and other things. . .
I went on a small vacation with my family last week for spring break/Easter and missed the Friday Five! Therefore, here it is, better late than never!
1. What do you do for a living?
I am an Administrative Assistant.
2. What do you like most about your job?
The flexibility I have to do things with my family and not feel tied to the job.
3. What do you like least about your job?
I would like to use my skills more than I do.
4. When you have a bad day at work it's usually because _____...
Someone forgot to do something and they need help NOW!
5. What other career(s) are you interested in?
I'm not really sure. . .but I like working with computers.
***********************
So, to get back to my weekend away, it was fun! I took a few picture of my girls and husband, and I hope to download the pictures
some time this week and put one of them up. Starting tomorrow I'm going to have a busy month finishing up with my last course
at the local JC - but then I will be graduating and taking a summer off!! So, the few weeks of work will be worth it. But,
I won't be reading too much. Now for knitting, I'll probably do a little more of that if I get stressed it's my way to unwind!
I hope to find the vest pattern for my Dad's father's day gift some time in the next week and then with my next paycheck by
the yarn. Then I'll be going full steam on that!!

I finished!!
I finished my sweater yesterday! Yesterday afternoon to be precise. It couldn't have been the evening because I actually
cooked a dinner (a variation on fajitas) along with drinks (margaritas for me, a coconut drink for my husband and one daughter
- and diet coke for my other). So, knowing that I was going to be cooking, cleaning, and drinking, I made sure I finished
my sweater first before any of that! And, here it is:

I finished an sleeve!
Well, yesterday didn't go quite as I expected, but it was all fine. My daughter's doctor's appointment and then physical therapy
went well. It shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to get her back out playing, provided she does her exercises and
is careful on it until it heals a little more. In the meantime, I was able to get some knitting done, but not too much reading.
I finished up one sleeve and cast on the second one! I should be able to finish that second one before the weekend is over
(at least, I'm hoping I do!). As for the reading, I've been trying to read at night before going to bed, but I seem to be
falling asleep early. Oh well, I must need the sleep so I won't fight it. I just won't be posting any finished books on my
book page any time soon!
