Last Day of the Year!
It's the last day of the year. . . and I'm just sitting at my computer, surfing the web, knitting and drinking my coffee.
What a great way to start the day!! I've been researching ideas to upgrade my web site. I would love to post a place to make
comments after each entry instead of the tag board, but I haven't quite figured it out yet. Maybe because I use a web building
tool instead of straight code. Anyhow, when I do figure it out I will make the change! In the meantime, I did decide to join
the book-a-week e-mail group again. I wasn't sure if I was going to since I haven't been reading too much lately, but I did
enjoy reading the messages. So, I joined figuring I have all year and maybe through the summer (when school is over) I'll
read a lot again!
As for knitting, I haven't finished any projects in the last couple of days, but I've made some good progress. Last night
I decided to do a swatch for a new sweater with some yarn I bought a few months ago. I was so excited to start it, sat down
and made the 4"x4" swatch - or so I thought. My swatch turned out 3.5"x3.5" :-( If I put the yarn on larger
needles, then it was too loose. I guess I just picked out the wrong yarn for the sweater. So, some time this afternoon I plan
on going through all of my old magazines (and I have a lot!) and seeing if there is a nice pattern for the yarn. If not, I
guess I'll just have to put the yarn aside until a pattern in the future jumps out at me. But if I have to do that, then I'll
need to do another yarn store trip soon so I can start some type of sweater!! I like having at least one big project on my
needles to work on at home, and a few small ones to bring with me to work on either during lunch break or while waiting to
pick up the kids. Although, that last one doesn't happen too often anymore as my oldest drives and my youngest has her permit.
But once in a while I do need to wait and it's nice to have a project in the back seat so I'm not bored! Oh, and the football
projects as well! That has to be a fairly easy project that I can work on while cheering for my team! Oh, that reminds me.
. . I do need yarn to make a vest for my father for father's day. . . I guess I'd better find that pattern and maybe concentrate
on that. . .and a sweater!!

Projects, projects, projects!
This past weekend was my first one off from everything (soccer, school, work. . .) for a long time! Saturday was rather nice.
I got up early, watched some football and knitted, and then our family went golfing. Talk about funny! Of course, I came in
last, but by the end I wasn't doing too bad. Both of my girls did very well. But the best part was that we all had a very
good time! Sunday I spent *again* watching football and knitting. Now, my favorite team is the 49ers, but they were out of
the running early on. So, I've been rooting for Green Bay. What a day for them! They had a good win, but even better, the
Arizona Cardinals beat the Vikings to let Green Bay go on to play next weekend! Go Green Bay! Okay, enough about football.
. .on to the projects I finished! Lets see. I finished my daughter's blue/green socks. And, I finished a hat (to be sent off in a couple of weeks when I make one or two more),
and one and a half socks from a toe-up pattern (which I will say I didn't like doing as much as the cuff down, but at least
I've tried it!). I also cast-on a shape-it-scarf (thick, pretty yarn; but I may try it again with a ribbon yarn), a hat to
match my diagonal scarf, and some rainbow socks! I probably won't get to work on them too much this week, but there is more
football this coming weekend. . . On a final note, here is a funky picture of me in my new sweater I wore on Christmas!
I guess it's time to cast-on another sweater. . .especially since I have two bags of yarn waiting to be two more sweaters.

Friday Five!
It's a good thing I didn't work today - otherwise I wouldn't have time to do two posts in one day - and I almost forgot about
the Friday Five!
1. What was your biggest accomplishment this year?
Oh that's kind of hard. . . it would be finishing school, but I've only finished 59 of my 60 units! I have many small ones.
. . but I guess my biggest would have to be getting my convertible car!
2. What was your biggest disappointment?
My dog passing away :-(
3. What do you hope the new year brings?
My degree!!
4. Will you be making any New Year's resolutions? If yes, what will they be?
Nope!
5. What are your plans for New Year's Eve?
Probably the same as last year. . . close family over at the house, play games, watch movies. . .oh the excitement! Actually,
it is nice :-)

The Day After. . .
I am so frustrated! I had a nice entry all done up, and the computer hiccuped and it was gone! So, let me try to do this again.
. . Christmas came and went very fast! It seems like I spent forever getting ready for it, and now I'll spend almost
as long cleaning up after it! But it was very enjoyable. The family celebrations went well all around. Most of my knitted
gifts were given before the actual day, but a couple of pairs of socks were given to my parents (from my Mother's hint on
my tag board!), and a tea cozy knitted from a pattern I bought from the KnittingFairy on-line. On Christmas day I was able to wear my sweater that I finished the day before. If the picture
that was taken turns out well, I will post it here. If not, I'll just have to take another picture!! Also, since I don't do
well sitting still at family functions, I brought along some socks I was (am still) making for my oldest daughter out of the
self striping yarn (I almost wrote "self stripping," but I looked it up on dictionary.com!) It's interesting how working on
socks brings people over to talk (and not just at family functions). It seemed to bring up conversations of old argyle socks,
toe up patterns, and turning heels. Which then led into other knitting topics, and then just talking in general. It was very
nice and relaxing all the way around :-) I hope everyone had as nice of a Christmas that we had. . . and I hope New
Year's Eve goes just as well!

Christmas Eve
My top news for today is that my daughter's high school team won their tournament this week! Since my oldest is one of the
team captains, she took the trophy home for safe keeping until they go back to school for a game today. So, I took a picture
of them with it! As for knitting. . . I finished every gift (Christmas and birthday) that I was working on and I'm
almost done with my own sweater!! I'm hoping to finish it tonight so I can wear it tomorrow for my husband's family gathering.
I'll post pictures of some of my projects after Christmas. . . and maybe even one of me in my sweater if I get a decent picture
tomorrow! It just feels so nice to be done with those "have to finish" gifts! So, on that note I thought I would put up
a picture of my Christmas tree (can you tell I have some time to take pictures again!) Happy Holidays Everyone!

Clogged Sink!
Well, after a fairly decent weekend, my kitchen sink backed up. My husband checked the links under the sink, but the
clog is farther back. So, first thing in the morning we are going to call the plumber. Which means not only do I have to miss
work because I have to wait at home (which normally wouldn't be bad because I have more knitting time), but I have to miss
my daughter's semi-final soccer game :-( I hope they play well!
As for this past weekend, I did get to see their games on Saturday (they won both), and I spent a lot of time knitting!
I finished all of the scarfs. . .
Here is one finished, and one that I was working on this morning (that I finished during one of the football games!)
I also finshed two other Christmas gifts of which I took pictures, but can't post until after the holidays. Also, I am almost
done with a birthday gift that I am giving to someone on Christmas eve as well. But, before I finished that gift, I picked
up my multi-directional scarf and finished that too!!! As a matter of fact, after I finish posting here I plan on picking
up my sweater and seeing if I can get the neck band done - or at least half way done. While I'm waiting for the plumber I'll
finish off that last gift. All in all, a pretty productive weekend!

Last Friday Before Christmas
Well, I had a nice entry all written, and then I accidentally deleted it! So, here goes again. . .
I can't believe it's the last Friday before Christmas! Time has just flown by. Last night I sat down and worked on some
more Christmas gifts. But instead of finishing one and going to the next, I just kind of worked a little on one, then another,
and then a third - not finishing anything but making progress on all! Hopefully tonight I'll finish two of them, and then
the last one over the weekend. As much as I'm enjoying making gifts for people, I can't wait until after the holidays so I
can get back to all of my other projects. I have at least two projects partially done, yarn and patterns ready to go for two
more, yarn I bought from ebay for a shawl (I still need to find a pattern), and a shawl I have a pattern for but still need
to buy the yarn for (to see this done up lovely, go to the Point & Flow Blog).
Oh yeah, Christmas gifts that I'm not making. . .
I actually got up early this morning and went shopping before work! Between that, and ordering on-line, I am almost done
with my shopping! Just three gift certificates, and a couple of gifts for my girls and I'm done. Yeah!!
1. List your five favorite beverages.
Wine, coffee, lemonade, diet coke, water.
2. List your five favorite websites.
yahoo mail, amazon.com, news.yahoo.com, gotsoccer (soccer gossip site!), dailybulletin.com
3. List your five
favorite snack foods.
pizza (it's a snack for me!), walnuts, toffee covered peanuts, peanut butter flavored taffy, cheese.
4. List
your five favorite board and/or card games.
solitaire, trivial pursuit, boggle, scrabble, mastermind (okay, it's not an actual board game, but it is a game!)
5.
List your five favorite computer and/or game system games.
Elf bowling, solitaire, family fued, crossword puzzle, mine quest.
So, there you go!

Daughter's Big Day
Today is my oldest's 18th birthday! I know I should be celebrating because my husband and I got her to this age with
no major problems - and with her being a really good person. But, I'm sad because my baby is an adult!! I wish I could just
be home working on some good knitting therapy, but alas I have to work! She's headed to see the last Lord of the Rings movie
tonight (her favorite series of movies, released on her birthday. . .) so maybe I'll get some knitting therapy in tonight.
We did celebrate with a nice dinner on Sunday, and then a 6am breakfast (I don't usually get up until after 7am!) before she
had to go to school.
As for knitting last night, I was able to do a little bit after throwing a soccer team dinner (for the high school team)
- but as one can probably imagine, it wasn't much knitting!! I finished one more of the gift scarfs and started on the fourth
one.
I'm a little scatter-brained this morning! I'm sure tomorrow's post (or Friday's!) will be a lot better!

Monday Morning
Well, it's Monday morning again - and it's the last full week before Christmas! At least I finished both of my classes on
Saturday, so I thought I would have time to knit. Not really. I went shopping with my husband Saturday morning, then with
the whole family Saturday afternoon. Bought and decorated the tree Saturday. Cleaned my house (with the help of my Mom - thanks
Mom!) Sunday and then went out to dinner for my daughter's 18th birthday Sunday night (I can't believe she's that old!). I
was able to knit a bit at coffee on Sunday morning (my weekend break with Bev), and a little during Sunday night football.
But not enough to keep up with the projects I need to have done!! Tonight is my anniversary, so I won't be knitting at dinner
tonight. . .aahhhh!! I guess I'll be working on scarfs Tuesday and Wednesday night since my girls need them before the week
is out. Then it will be back to my other Christmas projects that I've been trying to finish. . .then to my own sweater (which
is together with just the neck left to knit - and that's on the needles!), some socks partially done, another shell I want
to start, a shawl I have the yarn all wound and ready for, another shawl that I bought some yarn for on e-bay last month,
and. . . I could go on and on!

I'm on the list!!
Okay, I know, two posts in one day. But, I just found out I'm on the list for the Great Stash Redistribution
Project!! It's hosted here at the
Cyborgoddess's Slip Stitch Pass (ssp) blog site! Too much fun. . .!

It's Friday Five Time!
I missed it last week (not by choice, there was no list)! So, here is my Friday Five answers:
1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays?
I do, but I live in Southern California so we don't get snow!
2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How,
where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect?
With: my family
Where: in Tahoe (that's how I feel today, it could change tomorrow!)
How: same way we do now - sleep in a little, watch my girls open gifts, then eat bacon and cinnabon (too bad Atkins diet
that day)!
3. Do you do have any holiday traditions?
Quite a few as a matter of fact!
4. Do you do anything to help the needy?
Yes.
5. What one gift would you like for yourself?
My house completely clean top to bottom! What can I say, I have all of the material things a person could want (except,
of course, more and more yarn).

Scarfs
I decided to wear (finally) to work a scarf I had made myself a couple of months ago.
While I was walking out the door, my youngest saw the scarf and was impressed (and that's not an easy feat!). Anyhow,
one thing lead to another, and now I am making three scarfs (simple 2x2 ribbing) for her friends for Christmas. Finding this
out, my oldest asked if I could do at least one for one of her friends as well. And of course, they exchange gifts well before
Christmas is actually here, so I have my work cut out for me! I studied for a while last night, then took out my needles and
got started. I knit until I fell asleep late last night - I'm sure I was a site sitting there in bed, needles in hand, head
down sleeping! Oh well. . . I will get them done! And when I do, I'll post some more pictures!

Pictures (well, picture. . .)
Since I wasn't really able to knit last night (I took the girls Christmas shopping and then I had to study for my test
tonight), I decided to at least take a picture of my sweater that I have almost finished. So, here it is!!

Monday Morning. . .
I guess I'm just not creative with my titles!! At least I'm creative with my crafts. . .or at least I try!!
This past weekend was our first without soccer - at least without soccer games. Both girls had a practice, but that's
not something we pack up and go watch. So, I had time to do others things. . . once I finished my term paper. . . and
cleaned my house (part of it at least). . . and did the laundry. . . I was able to knit!! I finished a Christmas gift for
my grandmother, almost finished one for my niece, and worked on a couple of other ones that I won't mention until after Christmas!
I also put together my sweater and started on the collar - but that had to take back seat to the Christmas gifts. It was very
nice to be able to knit so much - but I did miss soccer! Good thing they have week night games now! Hopefully I'll even be
able to get back to my spinning. Not that I did much before, but what I was first learning I enjoyed and I want to start up
again. I know, I have a lot of goals!

Thursday, Thursday
Not a very creative title, is it?!! Well, I wanted to post that I've almost finished my sweater!! I finished up the last
arm last night, but was too lazy to get up out of bed and block it. So, tonight I will block the sweater and Saturday I will
knit the collar!! Even though I was too tired to get up and do the blocking, I wasn't too tired to go to sleep. So, I picked
up a new Christmas project to work on and did a little of that. Have you ever worked on something, and it didn't seem quite
right but you didn't know why. . . only to have it hit you while you are asleep that you were following the pattern wrong?!!
So, I will start fresh on that project tonight. At least I didn't get too far to be too upset!!

School Home Stretch
Last night was my last regular class for the semester. Now I have two more weeks of tests and finishing papers.
Yuck! The good news though is that most of it I can do at home, which means I can arrange my time a little better. The hard
part is that it's all due and done on my anniversary. . .which is two days before my daughter's 18th birthday! Oh well. At
least I did get a little knitting done during lunch and late after school last night. I'm working hard to finish my simple
sweater. I've finished both the front and back, and I've almost finished both sleeves. It will hopefully be blocking time
tonight and finishing up this weekend. At least I hope so. That's not to mention all of the small Christmas projects I'm working
on that I won't even list on this page!! I will say, I'm looking forward to the week between Christmas and New Year's when
there is no work, no school, but there is a soccer tournament I'm helping with. . .

Friday Five (a little late)
I'm a little late on this. . . but better late than never! Anyhow, here is my Friday Five:
1. Do you like to shop? Why or why not?
On line. I used to like to go to stores, but the crowds of people running into each other are too much for me!
2.
What was the last thing you purchased?
Goalie gloves for my daughter.
3. Do you prefer shopping online or at an actual store? Why?
On line for sure! See my answer to #1.
4. Did you get an allowance as a child? How much was it?
Yes, it was fake money called "Hippo Money"! We were allowed to trade it in for items!!
5. What was the last
thing you regret purchasing?
I can't think of anything off the top of my head? Maybe my last haircut - that is a purchase, right?!
