Thanksgiving Weekend
Thanksgiving was very nice, if not short on my part. Our family went to my sister-in-laws house, and although the food was good and the company nice, I just wasn't up to it :-(  My husband thinks I'm this way most years, but I would hope I haven't been! Either which way, I will try better next year.

As for the rest of the weekend (so far), it's been spent at the soccer fields! Both of my daughters played in the same tournament this weekend (but different fields). We spent a good part of these last two days driving back and forth to see both teams. While both of my daughters played well, one team is done (three ties, no loses), the other team is playing in the finals tomorrow at a UC!! Pretty good! While there hasn't been much time for homework (oh darn!), I have had some time to read and knit (yeah!). I finished the book I was reading, Angels & Demons by Dan Brown. I wanted to finish the book by this morning so I could loan it to my mother who is driving out of town this weekend - so I stayed up way too late last night (or should I say early this morning) just to finish it! I did like the book though and plan to put a little blurb about it on my book page. As for knitting, I finished one arm of my sweater and started on the second one; I did a little more on some socks and my multidirectional scarf; but my big thing was finishing a little sock! I used the Los Lobe Hose pattern (I bought the needles through her as well). Here is a picture of my first little sock:
Sock earring
I tried to take a picture of it next to a quarter, but the flash kept giving me trouble! Anyhow, I was so thrilled about it (I know, I'm easily pleased!), that I was showing everyone. So of course now, I have half a dozen people who would like a pair. I guess I'll be working on more of these rather quickly!

Well, it's getting late and we have to get up early yet again for the final soccer game. Time to clean up, shut down, and go change the laundry so she has clean socks for the game. . .

No pictures!
Well, I finished Dee's wristlet at a soccer game over the weekend, and they went straight from the needles to her arms! I've been nagging her to let me take pictures, but we haven't been able to do so yet. I'm pretty sure I can catch her on Thanksgiving though!!

Now, last night I finished up with school early, so I stopped by Michael's just to get some more Woolease to finish a scarf I'm making. To my wonderful surprise, they had Woolease on sale. Could I just buy the one I needed with a sale going on?! No way!! So, I bought a bunch more for various projects. . . then I let my good friend know about the sale as well. . . which I probably should not have done because I was not supposed to buy any yarn for at least one month. . .I just text messaged her about the sale. . . and I won't write here what she called me!! All in good fun though :-) I just wish she was with me at the sale - it's a lot more fun with a partner in crime!! After school and shopping, I didn't have much time left for knitting though. But, with the long weekend coming up (even though I'll be going to at least 6 soccer games) I plan on getting a lot of knitting caught up so I can start on yet some more new projects!!

Frogging Sunday
I spent some time Friday night, Saturday night and a good portion of Sunday morning working on the first sleeve of my sweater. I started to notice that it was getting quite long, but I was only half way done with my increases. So, I measure, and sure enough it's already at the necessary length, but way too thin! I was so frustrated. I checked the pattern and my gauge to make sure I didn't make a mistake there, and I didn't. So, I did some calculations on the pattern alone, and if I follow it to the letter, the increases alone push it 5 inches past the length! I never thought ahead of time to check a patterns calculations! So, I ripped out down to the last pattern and increase start and I start it almost all over again. I sat and watched football and knit yesterday until I was back to the point of that morning. So, even though the end products looks like I didn't knit much, I knit a lot! I hope to actually finish the sleeve tonight and at least cast-on the second one! Oh yeah. . . and study for my midterm tomorrow!

Multidirectional Scarf
I finished my daughter's multidirectional scarf last night!! I wasn't very happy with the way it was ending, so I played around with it a bit and came up with something slightly different. I'm not sure why I did that, since she was happy with the first way! Oh well. Here is a picture of her new scarf:
I realize pictures in the blog are rather small. I'm going to look into a place to store my pictures and have an actual picture page. I hope to do that this weekend. . . but with three weeks left in school and Thanksgiving coming up (not to mention the knitting I want to do), I'm not sure I'll get to it that quick!

Today, for my lunch time project I brought along a ball of Mountain Colors to wind up and make a multidirectional scarf for myself. Or, I brought some Woolease to make some arm warmers for my daughter. . . I'll probably do that one first!

Mid-Week
Well, it's mid week and already I feel like it should be a Friday!! Between work and school I did not get much knitting done. But, I did get up early this morning and I organized my patterns by my bed (you know, the ones you read through at night and put post-its all over) and I think I've lined up a few new projects that I'd like to start! For now, here is a picture of the socks I gave to Bev:

What a long weekend!
Well, the title says it all! It was a long weekend. I was able to work on some projects between soccer and homework (and football). I finished my socks (I'll try to put up a picture before the week is out), and worked on my sweater as well as a scarf for my older daughter. Oh yeah - I also received a box full of yarn from my good friend (hi Bev!) as part of my Christmas gift (she also gave me a subscription to a knitting magazine). I already have plans for some of the yarn to be socks, some to be a wonderful scarf, and others for a nice summer blouse! That was on Friday. Sunday we met for coffee (it's her birthday) and I gave her some socks I made and a scarf made from Tartelette yarn. I forgot to take a picture first, but here is a link to a picture of the pattern http://www.fibershop.com/tartelette_shawl/kit.shtml
Maybe I'll ask Bev to take a picture of her wearing it for me to post!

That's about it from this weekend!

Stitch Markers
So. . .  I had (have) a lot of homework to get done before Monday. . . but I was by myself. . . and projects just kept calling my name!! So, while reading my textbook I worked a little on my socks and my sweater. Then, at a good stopping point, I made some stitch markers!! I'm not the best at beading, but I do have a collection of special beads and thought I would try putting some together. Here is a picture of a couple of them.

I won't say how many I made last night. . . but enough that I'm giving away some as gifts!

The Knitbloggers Knitting Basket Project
In reading other knitting blogs, I came across this project to help support families in need by providing them with two llamas and two sheep — one male and one female of each — four animals famous for their warm, income-producing wool. It is such a good cause that I wanted to help spread the word by linking to it here. I've loaded their button to the top right side of my page. What a wonderful way to help someone!

What a long night!
Well, with all my best intentions of sitting and watching football while working on my sock last night, I wasn't able to do either! I had to take my kids shopping for my husband's birthday (which is tomorrow), finish homework for one class that was due by e-mail last night, then study for my class tonight. I can't wait for the holidays!! On the up side, my oldest daughter took my poncho that I made for myself last year, declared that it is now "in style" and wore it out last night! I've been waiting a long time to be able to knit for them again, and now she wants a poncho for herself. I hope to look for some good patterns this weekend to show her and then maybe start on it as soon as I finish the sweater I'm working on. Or, I could just start it now and add it to my WIPs. . .!!

Finished Socks
I finished Cori's socks! Most of my weekend was spent either watching my girls play soccer, or watching the games they were refereeing. So, I took along a couple of small projects, Cori's socks, and a scarf - that I promptly lost a needle from. So, I was only able to work on Cori's socks. That's okay though. I finished them up in time to give them to her after her game (which they won 5-1). Here is a picture of her with the socks. Now, back to my socks. . .and then some more socks that I just keep buying yarn for!

Just another Thursday!
No new pictures for today! I was able to cast-on a pair of socks for my daughter's friend, but I didn't get too far. Of course I also started a new afghan from a new pattern. I finished about 1/2 inch in one hour. It was very slow going and I had to work too hard at it. I like to crochet for the ease of the work and repetitiveness of doing a large afghan - and this pattern just didn't fit that! So, I took it all out, and started on a simple shell pattern! I was able to do 1 inch in 1/2 hour! That started, I put it down and started that sock! Hopefully I'll have enough done on the sock by this weekend to post some kind of picture. I'm trying one of the new stripped yarns, and I hope it turns out as nice as my last one (the yarn which was given to me as a gift from my good friend Bev). You know, I'm just going to have to set up a page of my favorite past knits to put up here. Maybe this weekend. . . in between the knitting I want to do, the homework I have to do, and the soccer I get to watch!

Finished Hat!

Black hat

I made a hat like this for myself, and then my daughter really wanted one for herself! So, here it is. After completing two of them, my husband pointed out that the rim is so big it leaves the hats pointing up on our heads :-/ Oh well. I'm still going to wear mine. But if I make another one, I'll shorten it by at least one inch!
