Finished Second TBR Book
I finished my second tbr book. "Here on Earth," by Alice Hoffman. I really like Hoffman's writing, and this book
was no exception. But the subject matter was hard and I would only recommend it to someone if they knew that going in.
In other news, I finished a pair of socks for my Dad while watching the Superbowl. What a great game, and great outcome!!
More to come in a few days. . .

Doing Good
Two weeks since the race and things are going well. I cut my running back down to seven miles last week, and then 7.35 this
week. I think I'll do just over seven and a half next week and keep it around there for a while. We haven't signed up for
another race yet, and I need to to help with my motivation! We're talking about doing a 5k in Palm Springs, and hopefully
a 10k soon there after. Or I wouldn't mind doing the 10k first, but I think the 5k is in March and that's coming up pretty
soon. But we're hopeful to get into the half-marathon portion of the women's marathon in San Francisco in October. It usually
sells out fast, so we have to catch it as soon as registration opens. I think that's in April, but I'm not sure. Dee, Bev
and I have signed up for the advanced notification, so hopefully one of us will catch it! As for other things. . . I've read
a few books so far this year and enjoying them. So, that's going well. I haven't knit or crocheted anything lately. But I
plan on working on some socks for my Dad during the Superbowl. I should be able to finish one pair during the game, but maybe
not. I'll try though :-) And on another good note, I've been listening to some motivational tapes. Some of the stuff I've
already starting doing (paying down my credit cards, saving money. . .) Some I've started doing with the audiobook (setting
goals), and then some I really need to work on, but I plan to. Like the keeping a good attitude even in the face of adversity.
The audiobook says that everyone can say they are calm and deal well with adversity, but then when pushed they get upset and
say that that is an usual response for them (which obviously isn't true). There are a few times I've responded how I wish
I hadn't. So that is my thing to work on. Even in uncomfortable situations, I will hold my calm and decide my actions later.
And truthfully, I've done that most of the time. It's those other few times that I want to work on!! I do realize no one is
perfect, but I like the idea of trying to be better that way, realizing it won't be 100%, but knowing in the long run I'll
be so much better for it! I like that. I've done it before, and it feels so much better later on! :-)

We finished the half-marathon!
We did it! Dee and I finished the half-marathon in Arizona. When we signed up we guessed that we would finish in 2:10,
but we finished in 2:07! Which was really good. Dee had trained up to 10 miles and worked really hard to get here by running
one mile, and walking one minute. I had trained up to 11 miles without stopping! So, Dee pushed herself to start faster and
take walking breaks every 1.5 miles, and I stayed and took walking breaks with her. It was really fun! She was tired, but
tried really hard. She pushed the pace for the first six miles, then we slowed down just a bit and went back to walks every
one mile. Right before 10 miles she told me I could go on, but I could see she was really trying and I wasn't going to give
up with just three miles to go. So, we took a bit more walking breaks, finished our water and used the accelerade at the breaks
and Dee used the gel they gave at one of the breaks. And, we made it! I sprinted at the end, just a bit ahead of Dee. But
apparently she started at the beginning mat before me and ended up with a race time of one second faster! But, we finished!
And overall had a great weekend. Now we are looking at maybe doing the one in San Francisco in October (the women's one),
and if so I think Dee wants to invite as many family members as would like to come and cheer us on and see at the end :-)
And here is the one picture we had someone take for us with our camera (hopefully there will be more from the professionals
at the race).

New Year
Well, the holidays are done and over. Christmas was very nice (Except for coming home and finding the dog had pooped
on my gift. Green gift under a tree. . . but she was locked up and somehow got out). A lot of wonderful gifts and nice time
spent with the family. New Years my girls were out and so my husband and I spent the day looking at cars and then the evening
playing wii and having our almond champagne! (And maybe a mixed drink or two). I've been off work since the 22nd, and it wasn't
easy going back today! But, I did catch up on my reading, my knitting, and almost on my running. But I got sick over the weekend
and I haven't been able to run for a few days. But we shut the office down a touch early today so I came home quickly and
made it out for a decent run. Now I'm sitting here waiting for my daughter and husband to both get home and ready for the
gym! I expect it to be rather crowded at the gym, being it's the new year. So I'm glad when I can get my running done outside.
I know there are going to be 4-6 weeks of having trouble getting all of my runs done on the treadmill at the gym, but I'll
figure something out!

Almost Christmas
It's almost Christmas, and I'm almost ready! One gift to finish knitting (I'll be taking it with me where ever I go this
weekend!), and one to buy (I broke a little one while wrapping last night). Then, it's just finish wrapping and hoping that
last one comes in the mail by Monday (it's supposed to come today). I haven't been reading much though. I have one book I
need to finish before the end of the year to finish by tbr challenge, and a list to make for next year's challenge. But, I'm
off next week so it should be fine. I've also been having trouble fitting in enough running and going to the gym. But I was
still about to do 10.5 miles today and I will be going to the gym today or tomorrow, depending on my husband and daughter
and when they can go. So, it's all looking pretty good!
