Selected Vancouver Projects: Public Buildings (1969 - 1973)
At the Archives, a large document storage facility and reading room were concealed under a waterfront park. For the Sea Otter Pool we explored organic forms to display these rare and intriguing mammals. In the Geological Sciences Laboratories (1969), a secondary perimeter circulation encourages shared use of expensive equipment - expressed as movable colour-coded exhausts, while in the Civil/Mechanical Laboratories, large-span steel-framed spaces were clad in a single material - profiled Corten steel. These projects were designed with McCarter Nairne and Partners.
