The Dalton Highway parallels the Alaska Pipeline for its entire length.

View from the Finger Mountain Overlook at milepost 86.  A short trail to the overlook provides 360 views of the region.

The Arctic Circle wayside at milepost 115.  This sign marks 66 degrees, 33 minutes north latitude, the point where theoretically the sun remains above the horizon one full day at the summer solstice and stays below the horizon one full day at the winter solstice

The service center of Coldfoot at milepost 175.  The original town of Coldfoot has been largely replaced by the only lodging, food, and service center for truckers, and tourists on the Dalton.

The historic town of Wiseman at milepost 189.  An old gold rush town, Wiseman was immortalized in the book "Arctic Village" in the 1930's by conservationist Robert Marshal. One of the few non-native communities north of the Yukon River, Wiseman currently houses about 30 full time residents.

The "Last Tree" on the at milepost 235.  No trees exist beyond this point on the Dalton Highway.  Extreme temperature and short growing season give way to Arctic vegetation from this point to the Arctic Ocean.

Final Destination.  The Arctic Ocean at Pudhoe Bay.  The Dalton officially ends at Deadhorse, about seven miles from the ocean.  The oil facilities, and the Arctic Ocean may only be visited by organized  tours.
