Storm Ranch is a small farm located only 15 miles
south of metro Denver which, since 1997, has been breeding, raising, training, showing, trail riding and selling
Rocky Mountain Horses.
Over the years John and Carolyn Loughridge have been very successful
in showing their Rockies both locally and nationally. They produced, trained, and rode five different of their
horses to grand championships. But their horses not only did well in the show ring, they all were and are regularly
trail ridden.
The Loughridges have also been involved in local and national RMHA
issues and activities. John is a Senior RMHA and KMSHA Certification Examiner. Carolyn and John are both officers in
the regional RMHA affiliated club chapter and have been participants in the Rocky Mountain Horse Brigade, a group of
Rocky owners which has performed numerous breed demos in the Denver area over the years.
One of the highlights occured in the fall of 2007 when the Carolyn and
John returned their stalllion, J. Toby's Shadow, to the RMHA International Grand Championships
held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. They found and purchased Toby at
the 2000 International and wanted him to end his show career back there. At the 2007 International, Toby placed high
in many classes and qualified for both the AOT Trail Pleasure and AOT Show Pleasure Grand Championship classes. These results in
the big time were icing on the cake for a great show career. And so Toby is now retired from the show ring.
John and Carolyn have unfortunately found it necessary to cut back on their breeding,
training, showing, and sales activities. This due to a non-horse related injury suffered in late 2010. They still have
a few riding horses for their own and friends use, and that are available to show to others who may be interested in learning
about the Rocky Mountain Horse breed.
