I have grown past being a young Californio born in Santa Monica, raised in OC, and am now growing up in Los Angeles.  I have studied with Frank Tauriello, Jose DeCreeft, Robert Beverly Hale, Lewis Cohen and Anthony Amato in Britain, New York and Laguna Beach.  I no longer rely on insights from these individuals to complete my work, yet each has contributed a kernal to my apprehension of beauty. To those creative souls who have preceded & provided a solid link on which to forge my splice, de tout coeur, merci

syncretic: uniting and blending together different belief systems.

"Keep love in your heart.  A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead.  The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring." - O. Wilde

"The most wasted of all days is one without laughter." -  E.E. Cummings

"Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."  - A. Einstein

"Nature is haunted - but Art - a house that tries to be haunted." - E. Dickenson

"To pretend, I actually do the thing: I have therefore only pretended to pretend." - J Derrida

"In democracy it's your vote that counts; In feudalism it's your count that votes." - M. Jallberg

"All paid jobs absorb and degrade the mind" - Aristotle

"The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them." - A. Einstein

My work is honest and ernest insofar as my nature will allow.  I strive to create product that will encourage apprehension for all who encounter it, yet I am not demanding that you are transformed or altered by it.

I hope that there is room in the world that we are approaching for contemplative work.   It gives me great concern that so much is being trampled underfoot in this culture's zeal to declare itself the zenith.

Nana does wonder...

Portraits:

I thoroughly enjoy the act of creating portraiture.  It is a wonderful opportunity to delve past the appearance of an individual and tease to the surface a consideration of the sitter which contributes to a better understanding of that person.
