Nebulas in Orion
This area include 2 of the 3 bright "belt" stars in the constellation Orion at the top of the image. The bright emission Flame Nebula (NGC2024) is just to the left of the left belt star Alnitak. Below Alnitak is the red emission nebula IC434 which contains the just viewable dark nebula Horsehead Nebula (B33). Lower down to the right is the "sword of Orion" which contains the very bright emission nebula M42 and above the blue reflection nebula NGC1977. |
